Hi,
Day two with Neil and his 12x12 calendar.
He made a gorgeous textured background on this page. I'll let him explain how he did it...
I covered the card with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to begin and added the squares. Then, using a palette knife I added modelling paste to the top of the page about 2 mm thick and using a heat gun to form a skin and using the flourish stamp (dipped in water) stamped into the paste. I used the back of the palette knife to write June. When I was happy with it I left it to dry overnight.
To bring out the texture I started by using black (with a bit of green and blue added) to do the base coat. Then started working over it progressively with the turquoise paint, adding white over time and keeping the brush fairly dry until I was happy with the end finish.
I used a mixture of the paints to brush randomly over the page too.
Material list
Stamps:Reindeer flight (flourish)
Distress ink Chipped sapphire
American Acrylic paint Lamp (ebony) black, Celery green, Desert turquoise and Warm White.
