Wish granted: Krylon and dominoes-part 3

Hello,
As promised here is day 3 of the dominoes and Krylon wish granted.
I, for once, stepped in, and did a step by step for you using the Domino size stampbord, gesso, Copic Markers and Krylon pens.

I used the new Crafty Individuals stamps which you can find HERE.

DOMINO 1

For the first one, I used the lovely lady from CI-303. Ink your stamp with Archival ink (jet black) and press the Domino size stampbord onto it.

Let it dry or dry it with a heat tool

Colour the image with Copic Markers. Dabbing with the markers will give you the "textured" effect in the background

Add the gesso and dry with the heat tool

Cover the gesso with the Krylon paint. I used Gold and Copper

Don't forget to do the sides of the domino too ;)

Once dry, ink up the lady with a Versamark pen and emboss with clear embossing powder

Picture taken at a different angle so you can see the embossing...

I then used it to make a necklace.. lovely isn't it?
You can add one coat of varnish (Decopatch) if you want to protect the domino. If you do just one coat, the embossed lady will still appear slightly raised.

DOMINO 2

This time I covered the whole domino with Krylon  (copper). I love how it gave a beautiful woodgrain effect.

I then stamped the cage from CI-301, embossed it with detail gold powder and coloured part of the image with Copic Markers.

I then added the gesso and Krylon as shown on the first domino, and used the Scratch tool to take some of the paint off to higlight part of the cage. Also added a touch of glitter glue on the flower, the bird and the butterfly.

DOMINO 3

This one was done pretty much like the first one: stamped the flower (CI-302) that fits perfectly, coloured it with the Copic Markers, and scratched lines in the flowers before embossing it with clear embossing powder. Gesso + Krylon as before.. I printed a little butterfly, cut it out and added it to the domino.

Used it on an little altered box.
The box itself is painted with Bronze and Pure Gold Eco Green Craft metallic paints. I have also used some Gilding Flakes (Imitation gold variegated light) in the box as well as cut images from Crafty Individuals book People and places 2

Et voilà :)
I hope you enjoyed this. Let me know in a comment below :)

Wish granted: Krylon and dominoes-part 2

hello,
Thank you for your feedback about the first part of our Krylon and Dominoes post. Happy to read that you are still enjoying our Wishing Well post...
Here's part two with a step by step by Michelle and a lovely sample by Chris Dark...
Michelle does not have the Krylon, but was so inspired by Isa'sart dominoes that she really wanted to make one using Alcohol inks.
Enjoy!

***
Stamp the image with StazOn ink and immediately emboss with clear embossing powder. Stazon gives the deepest finest detail but if left unembossed will be dissolved by the inks
Tamponez avec l'encre StazOn et embossez tout de suite avec de la poudre claire. Si vous n'embossez pas. l'encre StazOn (à base de solvant) risque de disparaitre quand vous colorerez avec les encres alcool

Mask the image then stamp the little branch with Brilliance ink and emboss with clear powder
Masquez l'image et tamponnez la branche avec l'encre Brilliance, embossez avec la poudre claire à nouveau

Colour in the image with alcohol inks and the finest of brushes. Use long strokes along the length of the image for the larger area and small dots into the areas of the smaller parts. For the background add the ink in small dots and leave to dry then go back with tiny dots of blender, lifting colour off or adding more, until you're satisfied with the result
Peignez votre domino avec les encres alcool. Un fois sec, vous pouvez rajouter quelques gouttes de Blending Solution pour éclaircir certains détails.

 Finished piece

To make her domino, Michelle used:
Stamps Hobby Art Anna's collection - Oriental
Powders Stamp n Stuff clear embossing powder
Inks Stazon Jet Black
Alcohol Inks
Blending Solution

*****

Chris did not use a domino as such but a domino size Stampbord instead.
here's what she has made for you ....

To make her domino, Chris used:
Stampbord domino
Katzelkraft Stamps Art Nouveau and Papillons 04
Distress Ink Stormy Sky and Shabby Shutters
Archival ink

Talking about Stampbord domino, this is what I have used to make tomorrow's tutorial. Yup, I (Isa) am the one stepping in for once and offer a step by step using Krylon, gesso, Copic markers and the latest Crafty Individuals stamps ;).... So see you tomorrow ....

Looking forward to reading your comment (and check your blogs ;))

Wish granted: Krylon and dominoes

hello,
First of all, thank you for all your feedback about our guest designers-to-be and about Isabelle Juin's Copic box. I'm glad you liked it, it's a fab project!

Let me share the wish with you first:

Oh Wishing Well, Wishing Well,
I would love to see what can be done with Krylon Leafing Pens as I love the look of them but panic when I think of gold leafing. Also I have just noticed on the site the Country Love Ceramic pendants which look lush but how would you decorate them and what with.
Also I have seen on blogs altered dominos but what do you use and how?
I hope my wishes come true!
Lisa x

Thank you Lisa for this wish. We won't be using the Ceramic pendants this time (although the techniques you will see would work on those) but we will definitely show you how you can use the Krylon Leafing Pens and how to make beautiful dominoes.

As your wish has been granted, you have won a KRYLON LEAFING PEN of your choice.

Lisa, please get in touch and we will send you your prize very quicly.

We are going to start those Krylon wish granted with Isabelle (Juin)'s tutorials and stunning samples...
Hope you enjoy them...

Krylon leafing pens can be used on Wood, Metal, Wicker, Plastic, Glass, Craft Foam, Plaster, Ceramic, Fabric, Paper, Paper Mache, Dried/Silk Flowers.
Dry to touch in 10 minutes - dry to handle in 2 hours.

DOMINO 1

Start by covering your domino with your favourite Krylon colour
Shake the pen really well, press down on the chisel tip to get the paint flowing and apply to your domino.

Colour your domino with Alcohol inks

If you make a mistake, just take it off with a bit of acetone

Stamp your image (here Katzelkraft), add a little label with the text of your choice and varnish with Decopatch Paperpatch glue and Aquapro varnish.
Once dry, you can highlight details with a permanent pen, and add Glossy Accents to the bird to make it "pop"

**********
DOMINO 2

The second domino is stamped with a text stamp (CI-203) using a permanent ink such as StazOn or Archival

It is then altered with a vintage image, label and gems before being varnished.

*******
DOMINO 3

For the 3rd domino (inked with chalk inks), the Krylon pen was used on the sides of the domino

and also on the jar lid.

to make a beautiful altered jar

Dominoes can be drilled, to be used as pendants

So what did you think of this Wish Granted?
Please let us know is a comment below

See you tomorrow for more samples and step by step by Michelle and Chris Dark
