Woodware week: Michelle

Hi, 

Michelle's day today and I am so happy she made this sample. I too keep on saying that I want to stamp a dictionary. I  have seen this quite often on several blogs, and I really like the idea. 

Basically, for those who haven't see this before, you open a page, pick a word you know you have a stamp for, and alter the pages with that stamp (and highlight the word too one way or another). 

If you, like Michelle and I, are avid stamps collectors, that's a good way to use them (and go through your stash of stamps... you know.. the ones you forgot you had... or those which have never been inked even). 
And what a fun thing to do with your kiddos too. I know my daughter would love it... I might actually try to find a French dictionary too so she can learn the words in both languages ;)

Anyway, back to Michelle and her A for aeroplanes. How cute is this?

I've wanted to stamp in a dictionary for a while and have finally managed to get hold of a little gem dictionary to start with while I keep my eyes open for an old battered one to 'alter'

Because the pages are usually so thin it is necessary to use a colouring medium which wont bleed through to the back of the page so I decided to use my pencils. All I did was stamp in versafine then colour with pencils and blend with a fine rubber where I wanted a fadeout.

I'm really enjoying playing!

Woodware week: Neil

Hi, 
With Love... isn't it a beautiful stamp? 
And I love the card Neil has made with it. The touch of fabric patchwork is perfect, don't you think. 
That's without mentioning the contrast with the black card. Definitely a card that many would like to receive. 
I will let Neil tell you how he made it. 

Another card from me; I haven't done cards for a while so it's been interesting to do. I started out (with no plan in mind) by stamping the image a couple of times and then colouring one with copics and just the hearts on another.

When I'd finished it and was looking at it I thought it had a bit of a country homespun feel (In my head anyway!) So I took out and cut a selection of fabric.

I cut a piece of white card and covered it with double sided adhesive and made a patchwork with the fabric. The stitches are with a black marker.

I mounted the fabric onto black card and mounted the image the same way, before adding to the card as seen.

I blended Distress ink over the card and spritzed with water to add interest.

To finish I added the 3 hearts with 3D foam pads and covered with Glossy Accents then tied a ribbon through a heart button and added as seen.

Woodware week: Isa

Hi, 
What can you do with a papier maché torso, a glass jar, some fabric and a few stamps... well... here's your answer. 
Oh [fine print on} and you will need Isa'sArt sewing expertise too [fine print off] 
(I know I don't.... but boy, would I like to have this in my house!!). 
I know it's not something that everyone will tackle this afternoon, and Isa did tell me "if you don't want to post it, that's ok", but how could I do that? It's too beautiful to miss, don't you think?
After so much work, it would be a shame not to have it on display on this blog ;)
I wonder if Woodware would ever have thought that their stamps would be used that way :o)
Here's a few details for you... 

Oh do I love that little quote "Have a fabulous Day!" and the lovely little roses too. Both coming from a Woodware clear stamp plate: TAG. 

So my next thought was... "what to do with it?" ... a tag or label.. ok... but I had to take it further... 

Wanted to alter a glass jar but bigger, take it to the next level... wanted some sewing involved... so ...

I picked a glass jar, but also added the papier maché torso to it

I used the "have a fabulous day" to make a kind of necklace but also used it to stamp on the fabric for one of the dress layers... can you see it? look closer...

and a few hours later...after a loooot of sewing and layering... voilà
