Tando Clocks week: Helen and Michelle

Hi,
We have a guest on our blog today: the talented Helen Chilton. If you come to the Extravanganza you might have seen her beautiful work then, or in the Craft Stamper magazine for which she has been writing for a long time. Or maybe you are lucky enough to have attended one of her class in the shop.
If you have not, there is your chance: either on September 16 or on October 27th.
Here's how Helen made her clock

First of all, colour the clock on the inside all over with pink and yellow oil pastels, spray with pink Dylusions and then use the light blue and white pastels to stencil the circles.

You can then colour the outside in light blue and yellow oil pastels, spray with blue Dylusions and then over stamp some swirls with Broken China inkpad.

Now stamp lots of flowers, leaves and birds onto white card and watercolour with Distress inkpads. Cut out and stick to inside of clock where the gaps are.

Stamp the clock face in black in middle. Cut a tattered flower several times, colour with pastels and spray as before, then paint top layer in gold and heat to bubble.

Cut a birdcage out of mountboard, paint in gold and heat to bubble. Attach with chain. Add some cut flowers.

Finally, emboss the roof part with stripes, add gold detail and stick to clock. Add chain and painted pine cones for pendulum.

Michelle is also with us today and a beautiful interpretation of the Tando Carriage clock.
Here's how she made it.

To make the clock I stuck two sheets of Crafty Individuals paper onto the front panel of the clock with PVA glue then cut around the panels with a craft knife to remove the 'windows'

I did the same with the back panel but positioned a tree image behind the clock face part of the panel.

All edges were then rubbed with Rub 'n buff (I use this so much it's a must have for your craft kit!)

I then stamped the Crafty Individuals trees onto vellum using imperial purple versafine and adhered the images behind the window.

To assemble the clock with the space between each panel I made little boxes 1cm deep out of heavy card to bridge the gap.

The numerals were cut out of mirrorboard on my cutting machine.

So this week, our talented team will be showing different options for the Tando clocks. Whether they made them with the new clocks or other Tando Products.

Let's start the week with Jane and a square 6x6 clock she made with the Tando square frame and stand

I wanted to make a little diddy clock out of the small square frame but it was just a too little to support the clock mechanism!! 

So here is my Tando clock using the 6 x 6 frame with stand. You will need to drill a hole in the centre for the clock mechanism.....

The frame and centre shape was painted with black acrylic paint, embossed with a Sizzix Textured Impressions and then rubbed over with Inca Gold......

The base of the frame and the butterflies were rubbed over with the Inca Gold, some of the butterflies were also embossed as the frame....

The stand was also painted, embossed and then rubbed over with Inca Gold.

Simply Artemio Saturday

Hello, 
We are already on our final day for our Artemio week. I do hope you enjoyed all the samples and inspiration. 
Today, for our Clean & Simple day, Gay made a lovely little frame as well as a really cute card that would make a lot of people smile I'm sure. 

I didn't have the right colour brown in the Fresco Finish paints that I wanted so I mixed Cinnamon and Little Black dress and covered the whole frame. The little bird was painted in Haystack and I stamped the flowers and embossed with gold embosing powder. The bird is raised on 2 deep sticky pads and is sitting quite high away from the back of the frame, it looks like it's actually floating. To cover the frame, I cut Graphic 45 paper to shape and distressed with Distress inks.

 This little bug crawling up the stem got me thinking about what his 'behind the scenes' might be like and this card was born. You never know what goes on in a bugs life!!! 

The first hedgrow plant was stamped on the front of my card, I then I stamped it again but on the folded card and matched it up to make sure it would sit well. I painted the little bug in bright green and blue then added some Diamond glaze over to highlight his shiny wing cases.. The inside was stamped and painted with Dylusions inks and finally adhered to the front of the card.
