Hi, 

Here's another little gift which is easy to make and will always be someone happy as it's very useful: an altered pencil case. 

Gio made two versions: One masculine one which she used as a gift box for a watch and a child one for little pencils. 

Those boxes only cost £ 1.25 and are quick and easy to alter.

BROWN BOX

 To make the brown box: I glued some Tando chipboards, metal charms, washers and watch parts onto the lid of the rectangular pencil case .When dry I covered it with DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic: Transparent Red Iron Oxide. When dry I applied an Andy Skinner "Timeworn technique". I glued the image from Crafty Individuals picture book: People and places 2 and I stamped the back of the lid using Coffee Archival ink and Andy Skinner acrylic stamps: Letting off steam

PINK BOX

To make the pink box: I covered the Rectangular pencil case with Fresco Finish Paint : Rose. When dry I sprayed some Dylusion inks using The Crafters Workshop template - Gathered flowers and Harlequin.

I stamped some little swirls using Dylusions stamps: Background love and Cosmic Shimmer Lustre Embossing powder: Amethyst Mist

I gessoed some old book pages and I stamped them using Dylusions stamps: Background love with Versamark ink. I poured some Cosmic Shimmer Lustre Embossing powder: Amethyst Mist and I melted with the heat tool. I cut every single flowers and I coloured them using several distress inks. I glued the flowers to the lid along with a little image from Crafty Individuals picture book: People and places 2. I stamped the sentiment using Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and

Woodware clear stamp: Alphabet background.

The calendar page : I mixed up the technique used to make the pencil boxes. I glued some metal charms, washers and watch parts to cardstock. When dry I covered it with Fresco Finish Paint: Rose. I glued them to the cardstock along with the month.

Gifts under £10 - Karen

Hi, 
Who's up for a bit of sewing? Those little teddy bear would make a perfect gift for a little one who will cherish it for years to come. 
Karen was kind enough to make a pattern for you to download and print so you can make your own teddy bear. 

Helloooo! I have made little teddy bears for this and have included my pattern, which is for a 6inch/15cm bear but you could easily enlarge it for a bigger bear!

Using the pattern cut out your bear. I used Calico which is double sided but if you use one-sided fabric remember to cut half your pieces the other way! 

Using a seam allowance of 5mm, sew up your seams in the following order (leaving a gap in one of the centre body seams for turning and pressing as you go) - centre body seams, centre head seams, head to body seams, ear pieces. Turn the ears and pin/tack onto one of the heads to line up with the marks. With right sides together join the back and front pieces together. Snip all the seams and turn, stuff with washable stuffing (or you could use old tights) and sew up the gap in the back seam. One bear finished!

Gifts under £10 - Neil

Hi, 
After a week of gifts under £20, we are now doing gifts under £10 this week.
Not that long now before Christmas, how are you getting on with your hand made pressies and decorations?
Helen Chilton will join us later this week with some lovely altered bisque plaques, but in the meantime, Neil is with us today with this beautiful collage/stamping book. This would make a great gift for anyone who keeps a diary, does art journaling or sketches.

I love books and journals and think they make a great gift. You can of course cover any book this way.

I cut random pieces of chipboard and covered each one with various layers of stamping and tissue tape to create decorative tiles. Each tile is then covered with 3 layers of UTEE to glaze.
