Stampbord and Impression Obsession: Michelle

Hi,
How about a little trip at the seaside with Michelle. This is my favourite sample of hers to date. Ok, I love anything related to the sea/boat/lighthouse... but still, isn't this absolutely gorgeous?
Michelle used the Stampbord of course, and the Impression Obsession lighthouse below (love this stamps).

I made this little scene by laying out the Stampbord tiles so there were no gaps between them then stamping the scene (Impression Obsession - Gary Robertson designs: Ocracoke lighthouse) with black Versafine ink. I coloured the image with TH Distress markers and a water brush. When the tiles were dry I triple embossed them with clear UTEE.
The window frame was made with coffee stirrers which I 'borrowed' from our friendly coffee shop in the village. I broke the ends off using plyers then painted them with  DecoArt Americana (Slate Grey) acrylic paint. When the paint was dry I painted them with PVA glue and then immediately with white acrylic paint (Snow Titanium white) to make the crackle effect.

The painted sticks were stuck in place with PVA glue when they were dry.
I made the net by knotting brown button thread and threading on beads to make the 'floats' on the net.
The little box was from an old card topper and all I had to do was to remove the original bits on the shelves, paint it with acrylic paint and add a few little shells to decorate.
The rope is made from corded string and the ball is a real ships knot which I tied from string.

To make the beach hut I used

  1. Wow!! How clever is that little window frame! I was waiting to read that it was an old box top etc but no, coffee stirers! (glad I'm not the only one who finds these in her bag when she gets home!).
    A wonderful piece.

  3. Totally amazing - and so inspirational. Although I'm not sure I'd be able to create my own fishing net, being clumsy and impatient.
