Background week - Sylvie

Hello everyone,
Hope you had a lovely weekend.
Sylvie is with us today to start our new Background week. Our DT will show you how to make fabulous background using several techniques.
Sylvie used Grunge Paste, misters and paints to alter some old vinyl records... Remember those?
Well, here's what you can do with them...

For the pink one, I started with an old vinyl and covered it with Gesso using Cut n' Dry foam. I then tore some book pages and pressed them down randomly, adding a bit of gesso to "adhere" them.
Once dry, I applied some grunge paste using a mask, sprayed it with Perfect Pearl mists and let it dry (you can speed up the drying process with a heat tool if you want)
Add stamped images and embellishments

For the green one, I started the same way but used PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints (Guacamole, South Pacific and Autumn Fire) to colour the gesso. I dabbed the Versamark ink pad here and there and embossed with UTEE. Did 3 layers of this and pressed a stamp into it when it was still warm.
Add more Fresco Finish paint (South Pacific).

I sprayed different colours of Perfect Pearl mists and used kitchen towel to dab the excess.
Using a paintbrush, I applied some Treasure Gold on the textured area
I then added some Distress Walnut Stain with a piece of Cut n' Dry.
I also added touches of  Mermaid and Autumn Fire Fresco Paints. I painted pieces of gauze which I added to the background.
Add stamped images and embellishments

For her samples, Sylvie used:
PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints: Guacamole, Hey Pesto, Mermaid, South Pacific, Autumn
fire, Claret, Sherbet, Irish Cream)
Distress inks : Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers, Dried Marigold, Tea Dye, Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Vintage Photo
Gesso
Grunge paste + palette knife
Prima Marketing mask : Hexagone Grunge
Crafters Worshop templates: Harlequin, Paradise
Metal charms (clock face charm steampunk style : brass et dragonfly and cogs
brass charm)

See you tomorrow
