Sketch week - Neil

Hi,
A different interpretation of my sketch today with Neil and a lovely mini book, covered in UTEE in pale blue/lilac shade. Neil altered the mini book covers using IndigoBlu stamps and Tim Holtz die cuts and embellishments.

I cut and embossed 3 squares of card and attached to the book. Everything was then painted with Americana Acrylic paints. When this was dry I highlighted the embossing with Treasure Gold. Stamped the lace around the edges in Coffee Archival ink and added some of the Tim Holtz Tissue Tape to the right hand side as the first of the 3 elements of the sketch before covering the whole book with a layer of clear UTEE and melting it.
I coloured a die cut butterfly with Treasure Gold and added a couple of layers of clear UTEE to it too. I added a second layer of UTEE to the cover and melted it, while it was still hot I pressed the butterfly into place at the top of the tape to create my second element and the third element was the Chit Chat Stickers..

The last element on the sketch was the 3 circles along the top right of the first square. I'd not left enough room to do that so decided to punch 3 holes in the top square and loop ribbon through which I really like so I'm glad I forgot to leave space.

Though the sketch at first look was for a square project like  12 x 12 scrapbook layout, I think it has worked out well in this rectangular format too.
Oh, and here's the back cover, not based on the sketch but I thought you'd like to see it anyway!

Neil used
Americana Acrylic Paints - Deep Periwinkle and Flesh Tone
Archival ink - Coffee
Versafine embossing ink

See you tomorrow

  4. Hey! What the heck happened to the pictures? Found this post via Pinterest and there's not even the picture that's shown on Pinterest. Can't find the project on Neil's blog either. He has no search function or categories on his blog.
