Impression Obsession - Dawn Heald

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all well, are getting
ready for the Bank Holiday weekend?
Hope you have something nice planned!!

Well, this week we are featuring an
old favourite....
Impression Obsession stamps.
It is always nice to go back over products
which we haven't used for a while!

Dawn is going to kick off the posts this week...

Dawn says -

This week I've made simple but striking
pictures. They can be used as cards or
wall art. I've used one for a card and
two ready for frames. I'd got the idea
from a painted canvas art seen a long time
ago on an Internet search and it stuck
with me. I knew I wanted to take a colouring
in pattern approach and when looking
through the fabulous range of Impression
Obsession stamps the light bulb went ping,
 on not off.

To make something like this,
Trim white card to size you want. Stamp
the Cover A Card stamps as shown. If
repeat stamping like I did don't worry if
the join isn't perfect, just go in with
a fine pen and join up the stamped background lines.

Next using the stamps and masks to
 make silhouettes.
stamp the air balloon image right over
 the background stamp.
Using the stencil, draw around the images.
If you really want to you could mask
these images before stamping the background.
However I didn't as I was happy if any lines
did show through. But they didn't.

Next up colour the images you want as
silhouettes with black pencil, then black
alcohol marker, then go over again with
black pencil and finish by rubbing over with
a paper stump. This will leave a dense
 black smooth silhouette.

Then colour in the background with colours.
I coloured first with pen then over again
with pencils. Doing this really made
 the background bright and vibrant.

Trim if necessary and mount onto white and
then black card or onto a white A5 card blank.

What a fab background this makes!
So colourful.
Thank you Dawn,

Ok, I'll be back tomorrow with
another project.

  1. Fabulous Dawn! Both the background technique and the silhouettes techniques are interesting and the result so striking. Plus Impression Obsession are one of my favourites!

  2. FAb backgrounds just love the way you have coloured them in. The silhouettes just add that extra something and make the whole thing pop. Lovely x

  3. I just love the silhouette stamps they have and have to pull back from using them too often...
