Here's our 3rd card for our mechanical week: secret panel card with Neil.
Remember that you can download the PDF with instructions for this week's cards and more.
I started out with plain white card and followed the instructions to create all the pieces needed just to make sure they would work. My plan was originally to then make another card using patterned card but I decided to play a bit with inks instead and I'm glad I did as I love the result.
It's very simple I used both the negative and positive shoal masks and Dylusions inks (Two blues and an orange) and just let rip; spraying, blotting and flipping. For this card you need to colour both sides of all the pieces so I did that, and by just varying the amounts of the colours achieved different colour tones. I edged everything with Tea Dye Distress ink too before assembling the card.
I edged the opening sides of the card with Die cut lace coloured with Tea Dye ink and used two Tattered Flowers fastened with brads to hold it closed. I left them white as I thought looked great against the blues.
Inside the first section I just wrote a "hint" and when the recipient discovers the rest there is the heart (Which says it all!)
Though obviously, any message can be tailored to the recipient.
One important thing to note though is that if you use a die cut shape that goes outside the lines you will need to cut the die and fasten each piece onto the different sections as you can't go over your cut lines (If you still want your secret panel to open LOL)
Dylusions inks - Blues and Orange
Heart and Wings die
Distress ink - Tea Dye
See you tomorrow
