For the Man in your Life - Dawn Heald

Hello everyone,

The weekend is nearly here and it is going to be
a busy one for The Craft Barn!
Two days of demonstrations, mini makes and
masterclasses.....

Hope you can join us!

This week we are looking at something for
the Man in your Life, don't forget Fathers Day is
not far away!

We start with Dawn and her project.

Dawn says....

I wanted to make something for my wonderful partner, David,
who's also a brilliant dad to our children. I thought this new Tando
MDF Shelf was perfect and have used purple and blue as my main
colours as these are David's favourite colours together. So a gift
for the man in our lives.

As for the shelf itself, I would recommend that you mask the tabs and
slots that hold the shelf together. They are a precise fit and its
difficult to push together other wise and you end up sanding away
 these areas.

To make this project -

Paint all pieces of MDF, both sides, with a couple coats of white Gesso,
dry then lightly sand to ensure a smooth surface.
Next use purple and pansy paint and cover all the pieces.

Mix some white acrylic paint with a few drops of Mermaid
Lagoon Distress re Inker. Use a sponge with this paint
and lightly dab over all surfaces. Dry. Then use JOFY Mini Stamp
and Purple Stazon and stamp all over surfaces randomly. This
helps bring the purple out and helps the mottled effect.

Next, mix some Grunge Paste with a small amount of Guacamole
paint and spread through Art Is Stencil. Use Black embossing
paste and spread through gears mask.

Fix shelf pieces together. I did bottom shelf then the two sides.

Rub silver gilding wax around all edges and buff with kitchen roll.
For embellishment, paint a piece of card purple and sponge paint
same as for shelf. Stamp heart and cut out add silver pen details.
Stamp cogs and cut out heart shape again add silver details.
 Stick to shelf as shown.

I absolutely love this!!
Thank you Dawn.

If you want to have a go, this is what Dawn used -

Will you give it a go??  Let us know in a comment,
