Letters from home this week. What is hiding behind this?
You might remember the H (for Halloween) that Kathy Byrne made for a class once and which we featured on this blog back then (click here to see the full post)
We sell those really cool papier maché letters (and now numbers too) and the DT has been altering some for you: sometimes just one letter, sometimes initials or even whole words.
We have these letters in 3 sizes on the website: 10 cm, 17.5 cm and 20.5 cm
Michelle and Karen are with us today. Michelle altered a full word: PEACE and Karen altered a K
Let's start with Michelle....
Then I positioned all the butterflies so the looked as though they were flying along the word ans attached them with glossy accents. So so simple!!!

Karen's project
I gessoed & covered the letter with a paper napkin to start.
Taking largish flowers, leaves & a mini house from Tando Creative and coffee stirring sticks for stems I painted with Eco Acrylic Paints in New Grass, Butternut, Periwinkle and Lime. When dry, I added Viva Croco crackling colour Transparent.
While waiting for that to dry I stamped some fairies onto white tissue paper, tore out and added to the letter. Then I went over the whole letter with matt multi-medium. I added dots of Viva Pearl Pen in Opal to the flower centres.
The little swing is made from an offcut of chippie and treated the same way as the leaves & flowers

Floral Paper Napkin, Fairy stamp and word stamp as well as...

An interesting theme for this week - I'm looking forward to seeing what the DT comes up with.
ReplyDeleteLovely idea for a gift and the letters could be treated in so many different ways depending on the recipient. Two great examples. Looking forward to seeing more. . .

Both are wonderful, in two différent ways ! Still a great idea, I will follow you with a lot of pleasure, as much as I've never covered things in "papier maché" yet... hugs
ReplyDeleteWould make such a personal gift :)
