Candle week - Neil

Hi,
Hope you had a lovely weekend.
How are you doing with your Christmas preparation? We talked about advent calendars last week... Has anyone started anything? Don't forget to show us if you are making one.

This week will be all about candles. Candles are for birthdays of course, but they are also associated with Christmas and, once altered, make the perfect gift.
We we are going to talk about altered candles, candle holders, calendars with candles: lots of ideas for you to choose from.

Starting with Neil this week and this beautiful altered candle holder using a Crafters Workshop mask and Dreameaver paste with misters...

I started out with the tall wood candle holder and painted it with gesso thinly. Using The Crafters Workshop mask and Dreamweaver pearl paste I applied it to the candle holder on all for sides but leaving some open spaces at the top.
While it dried I spritzed some Cosmic Shimmer misters over everything. It absorbs into the surface of the paste and gesso giving a lovely washed out colour which I think is great.

I adhered a piece of randomly inked card to the top and taped some lace to the bottom.
It's hard to see the lovely shimmer the paste gives but it is lovely.

See you tomorrow
