Birds Week - Dawn Heald

Morning all,

I have to keep reminding myself what
the day is, everything is so messed up,
next week we should get back to a bit of
normality.....actually, is that possible??

I'm back today with a project from Dawn, she has
also being playing with some birds!

This is what Dawn says.....

Hello, Wishing you all a very Happy
New Year and that 2016 brings you all you ask for.
For this week I've made a card to send to family.
From all of us to them. I'm still undecided on
the sentiment but that will go in the bottom
corner. I've gone for Lin Brown stamps to
depict the six members of my little family household.
I love these stamps and any reason to use
them, I'm on it. The full on busy
background fits with our family too.
A note - Don't think too hard about which paints
to use. I didn't and it worked. It made
the process more fun for me.

First make the background. Using watercolour
card. Take three different colours of acrylic
paints and with plenty of water, paint
randomly and loosely  around the card.
Don't worry about dirty water, it works.
Then flick more water all over. Let settle
for a minute then dab off excess with kitchen
roll. Pattern embossed kitchen roll works
really well here. Dry. Repeat the steps
again to get more intense colour.

Then use stencil with white gesso and stipple
through leaving some areas alone. Dry.
Outline with grey marker pens. Then use
a selection of the small stamps all over
the painted card to create a busy pattern.
 Trim to size.

Distress edges then colour edges with black pen.
Stamp all your birds, colour with
 Inktense Pencils and cut out.
Attach coloured coffee stirrers, leftover
pieces of card from trimming and gold
ribbon across the bottom so birds
 have something to stand on.

Attach this to a white A5 card blank.
Then arrange birds onto background and
stick in place with foam pads.

I love this, so colourful, great for
the start of the new year!

This is what Dawn used -

Paperartsy Lin Brown Stamps ELB17, ELB18
Fresco Finish Butternut and Caribbean Sea.
Stazon Inks -  Jet Black, Dove Grey, Teal,

I'll be seeing you soon,
enjoy the rest of your weekend!
