Saturday Savers - Vintage cute - Gio

Hi, 
A lovely little upcycling project by Gio today using an egg box and paints and turning into a lace storage box.
This is so adorable and would make a perfect gift for a crafty friend. 
Gio used Hobby Art Bird House for her cute image.

 I covered the egg-box with gesso, then I painted it using a paintbrush and a little sponge with Fresco Finish paints Sky and Nougat.

I distressed the borders using DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic: Quinacridone Gold taking a very little amount of paint at a time, leaving the paintbrush almost dry. I decorated the front with the Crafty Individuals mask: Beautiful border and some Dreamweaver embossing paste: Transluscent spreading it through the mask with a palette knife.When dry I distressed the raised areas with the DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic: Quinacridone Gold.  I stamped the egg box with a text stamp, from PaperArtsy - Lynne Perrella collection 003 plate and Archival ink Coffee.

I stamped the bird house twice  and some hearts using Hobby Art Clear Stamps: Bird house and Black jet Archival ink on a piece of Crafty Individuals White Silk Card - Regency Satin. I cut it out and coloured using several Distress inks and a Zig BrusH2O Waterbrush.

 For the inside of the lid: I tore a piece of old book page, I painted it with Fresco Finish paints Sky and Nougat. I made a border with the Crafty Individuals mask: Beautiful border and some Dreamweaver embossing paste: Transluscent spreading it through the mask with a palette knife. When dry, I highlighted the  texture with little DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic: Quinacridone Gold. I added it to the lid box. I added the stamped images to both sides of the egg-box lid.

Vintage cute - Sylvie

Hi, 
A lovely sample by Sylvie using the Hobby Art Woodland Scenes stamp plate in bright colours. This could be sent to a little boy as well as a girl.

Stamp your images on a white cardstock in order to create a scenery

Trim it down to size (about 22.5 x 12 cm)

Use Distress inks to colour the background (Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Salty Ocean for the sky, Shabby Shutters for the grass) using Cut n' Dry foam.

Use a brush and Distress inks as watercolours to colour the images stamped previously

(Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, Shaded Lilac, Picked Raspberry, Tea Gye, Vintage Photo, Scattered Straw, Barn Door...)

Ink up the edge of your panel with black ink and mat it with black and red cardstock

Stamp the word "carte postale" on white cardstock, cut it out, colour the words with a red Promarker and glue it on your card.

Vintage cute - Neil

Hi, 
When Neil went in the shop to buy his cute stamp, Jane dared him to use Glitter and bling as well as the cute stamp. And if he did not, I would use Photoshop to add it LOL. 
Well, I did not... tempting though.... as I think Neil did amazing considering that cute is not his forte.
This is really lovely, what do you think?

As I'm sure many of you will guess; vintage I can enjoy, cute, however is something I tend not to do so much! 

Still; I gave it a go and created this little hanging for a little girls room.

 I stamped the image onto an ATC in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with Copics. I used Distress Ink around the edge and adhered it to the frame.

 I used the Tattered Garland die and Dylusions inks to create some small flowers which I attached to the bottom corner. I added branches and leaves from the Autumn Foliage die to finish it off. 

I tried to keep my colours soft and muted and I am pleased with the way it turned out.

Vintage cute - Karen

Hope you had a lovely weekend :)
A little bit of vintage, a little touch of cute and you get? A vintage cute week.... 
A bit of a struggle for some of our DT members who don't "do" cute at all, but then it's nice to challenge them a bit, isn't it? 
Starting with Karen... with a not only a Vintage cute project, but one for a little boy too. Vintage and cute is rarely associated with boys, but it works really good on this one, what do you think? 

For my project this week I have recycled a 10x10cm beer mat.  

I painted it first with PaperArtsy Fresco paint in Chocolate Pudding, added the PaperArtsy Crackle Glaze then Snowflake paint on top, drying well between layers.  Then I rubbed some Distress Ink in Chipped Sapphire over the top to add 'depth'.  The images were stamped in Memento Black and coloured with Copics.  They were then clear embossed before cutting out.  The wording was stamped and embossed straight onto my base.  The images were then glued in place.  

I punched two holes at the top and tied red string for a hanger.

Lettering week - Jane

Hello,
A lovely baby card today with Jane... Die cut letters used in a simple yet elegant and stylish way.
Jane used the Memory Box Classic upper alpha for her sample.

I decided to treat myself to the Memory Box Classic Upper Alphabet Set.  Letters are so useful.....

 and.... 

even..... 

the possibilities are endless and especially with all the unusually spelt names now, you can really personalise your projects.

I decided on a new baby girl card with just a little decoration...... 

a little bit of bling.....

and of course a little glitter......

Patchwork/Collage week - Gio

Back to collage today with Gio and a beautiful Art Journal spread. Gio used a mix of paper, images, stamped images and even lace for her collage, the lace added dimension to her project.

 I cut out some images from the Kaisercraft - 75 cents: Dime paper. I stamped some images using Kaisercraft clear stamps: Miss Empire plate and Ranger Archival Ink pad: Jet Black on Crafty Individuals White Silk Card - Regency Satin paper and I cut them out.

Before making the background, I studied a composition on the pages. I glued to the pages some magazine torn pages with Pebeo Studio matte gel, I sprayed some Cosmic Misters through The Crafters Workshop templates Eye chart and Harlequin.

I glued all the images stamped and from magazines. I stamped randomly some clocks from the same plate and a script stamp. I added some texture with the Pebeo Studio matte gel and a mask: when dry I lightly brushed the Treasure Gold: Brass.

Opposites week - Sylvie

Hi, 
Opposites will be bright VS pastel... or modern VS shabby with Sylvie today. Once again, same stamps are used but the change in style and colours really make them totally different.
Looking forward to your comments below.

For the pastel background, press your ink pads on the craft sheet, spray with a bit of water and press your cardstock onto the ink. Dry with a heat tool. 

Add the diamonds using the Harlequin mask and Distress inks

For the bright background, apply some paint on the Craft Sheet, spray with a bit of water and press your card onto it. 

 You will end up with a different (thicker) effect than with the Distress inks. You can use some kitchen towel to dab off the excess paint.

Use the mask and Distress inks, but with darker colours this time (Picked Raspberry and Barn Door)

Stamp the images by Lindsay Mason, colour and cut them out

Tear your paper, ink the edges with Distress inks (Black Soot for the bright card, Broken China for the shabby) and glue them on your card

Stamp a few flowers and leaves

Stamp the flowers several time on white cardstock, colour and cut them out to make 3D flowers

For these cards, I added a little flap on the right (made with paper inked the same way as the backgrounds)

and I stamped the text from the same stamp plate

I added ribbons to both cards, as well as a few Kaisercraft roses on the Shabby card and a music notes from Tando Creative.

The girls are glued to the card with 3D foam squares

Opposites week - Jane

Hi, 
Jane's turn today and she chose to go with LIGHT vs DARK. 
This makes quite a dramatic change to your card. Look below, the same stamp and designs are used yet the cards look so different. I would say the dark one would be more suitable for a teen when the lighter one could be used for a younger kiddo.

A splash of colours - Gio

Hello, 
If there is something that puts you in the summer mood, it has to be vibrant colours. And with the neon colour trend this summer, we definitely have a lot of brightness around. Love this trend, so much fun.

So we thought about doing a colour week, and I challenged my DT to make samples with specific colour combos. I did not go "neon colour".. although very tempting... as I know it's would be fun, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. 
As I type this, I have not made my sample yet... so you never know... with the colour combo that I have to use, it IS possible to use neon colours..... we shall see. ... hmmm, we have those new neon Pebeo paints in stock....

So combo one: turquoise/teal - white - brown and Gio took the word "splash" quite literally on this one. 
LOOOOVE her samples, those cards are so much fun. I guess it's gelato time ;).

For the scrapbook page, I cut a white cardstock to size. I put a little amount of Cosmic Shimmer Misters Bilberry Crush in a syringe. I pressed on the seringe quickly the white cardstock. When dry, I added the Teal Wash in the same way. I cut some strips from some gauze and I sprayed them with the same mists. I rolled them until I get some simple flowers. To get them stay in place I used a head pin. I cut a triangle from Pebeo Cotton Pop Art canvas pad - A4, and I painted it lightly with DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic: Quinacridone Gold.

I decorated the fabric rolls with some tiny beads. I stamped the background using Woodware clear stamp: Alphabet background and Ranger Archival Ink pad: Jet Black .

I added a stitched border with the sewing machine. I glued the background to a piece of larger white cotton, and I stitched this one, too.

I painted a wooden hanger with Fresco Finish paint Beach Hut. I adhered the picture, the canvas triangle along with the fabric rolls to the cardstock. I glued the title made out of Tando Creative: Alphas Sheet style Block Serif, and I wrote the journaling.

I cut a triangle from Pebeo Cotton Pop Art canvas pad - A4, and I painted it lightly with DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic: Quinacridone Gold. I glued to the cardstock. I stamped the sentiment using CI-256 - Handy sentiments and Ranger Archival Ink pad: Jet Black .

For the blue card: I cut  white cardstock to size. I put a little amount of Cosmic Shimmer Misters Bilberry Crush on a syringe and splattered on the card. I cut a triangle from Pebeo Cotton Pop Art canvas pad - A4, and I painted it lightly with DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic: Quinacridone Gold. I glued to the cardstock along with three rolled flowers. 

I stamped the sentiment using CI-256 - Handy sentiments and Ranger Archival Ink pad: Jet Black .
