Diamonds - Rachel Snook

Morning all,

Hope you are all well.

I heard on the radio the other day that we are
apparently going to have the hottest August ever!!
Average of 32 degrees every day.....do we
believe that??  Hmmm well it is going back to
winter at the moment so who knows?

Ok, Today we have a creation from
Rachel.  She has made a beautiful project
for a 60th Wedding Anniversary.
Obviously this could be adapted to fit any
occasion!

Cut a piece of white linen cardstock 11" in length
and 6" wide.
Score the card at 4, 6 and 7 1/2" across
the long side.

Make a small pencil mark at 2" top and bottom,
then lining up this mark at the top of a scoreline, follow
the line down using a ruler to ensure you stay straight.
Score until you reach the bottom of the 6" scoreline.

Turn the card around and repeat from the other pencil
line to the top of the 6" scoreline.  This will then give you
two diagonal scorelines.

Go back to the start of the card at the 4" scoreline and
mark the edge of the 6" side at 3, line the 2" mark
on your trimmer and cut diagonally to the 3"mark,
turn over and repeat.  You should now have a
diamond shape.

Take the card and starting with the 7 1/2" scoreline, fold
and score making a valley fold, burnish with a bone folder.
The one the 6" scoreline, mountain fold and burnish.
The one the 4" score Valley fold and burnish.

You are then left with the diagonal folds which
are folded as mountain folds, thus enabling the
diamond shape to be formed as the scoring enables the
cross sections to fold in.

To decorate cut a piece of the patterned paper
5 3/4" by 3 3/4".  Using a pencil and one back
of the paper, on the short side mark 1 7/8".  Mark
on all four sides.  As before line the marks up and cut off
all the four corner points and this will leave you a
diamond shape for the card front, place this and
the four pieces to one side and repeat this again.

This time put the corner pieces to one side and cut the
diamond shape in half.  Then cut a piece of paper
3 1/2" wide by 6" in length and trim slightly
smaller to cover the flat section of the card.
Also cut 2 rectangles 6 long 1 1/2 wide to cover
the small part of the card.  Using double sided
tape adhere the paper to the card as shown.

You have enough cut pieces to cover the whole of the front
of the card and rear of the folds.
Burnish folds and put to one side.

Using a Memory Box leaf die and  the Sue Wilson Camelia
Open and Complete dies,  die cut a selection of flowers
 and leaves .
Arrange as desired.

Die cut numbers 6 and 0, cut twice from Mirri
Card and glued on top of each other to give depth.
Arrange on the front of the diamond card.
Add dotty peel offs and small glitter domes to finish.

Wow.....you'll need to get your head around all
the measuring but it is definitely worth it in the end!

Homespun Wreath - Dawn Heald

Hi everyone,

Welcome to day two of our wreath week,
today it is Dawn's turn to show you what she has been up to!

Dawn says .....

I decided to try a different colour palette and the Kaisercraft
Blubelle paper pad was perfect. This pad is useful for
masculine makes too as well as pretty makes so a good
all rounder to have in your stash.

For my wreath I've made a homesy feel decorated with
flowers and a fairy. I do like my punches so gave
them a dusting off and I really enjoyed putting this together.

To make this project here's what I did -

Choosing some darker papers from the pad I cut them up
into small pieces and glued then around the polystyrene ring.

Smaller pieces are easier to shape and glue around the
ring. When dry I outlined pieces with a gold pen.

Now this did take a long while to do but it was quite therapeutic.

For the decorations I chose some lighter papers from the
same pad. Punched out flowers and butterflies, edged with
ink and made up into roses. I die cut the ivy leaves and the
fairy three times and inked the edges, then layered the fairy
adding glitter glue to make her sparkle.  Glue
 them all to the wreath.

Beautiful Dawn, thank you!

Products used -

Distress Inks - stormy sky, dried marigold, crushed olive
Stickles Glitter Glue - Stardust and Gold

Hope you like today's project, let us know what you think!

See you tomorrow with a project from Neil!

Pictures from the Demos

Hi everyone,

I promised you some pics of the demos on Saturday, so I popped down to the
shop to see what was going on.
Well, some beautiful samples were being made.

Here are just a few.....

Carol Cockbain, a tutor at the shop and famous for her Dreamweaver
DVD and many classes was playing with Sue Wilson dies.
Come and join Carol with her Sweet Poppy Stencils
class on Saturday 28th February.

Helen Chilton, also a tutor at The Craft Barn and who appears regularly in
The Craft Stamper magazine, was using some of the new
PaperArtsy stamps and colouring with Distress Markers.
You can also join Helen with her new Inky Fingers club
on Wednesday 25th February.

Our third demonstrator was Kay Carley, a tutor and always popular at her classes
and demos, was showing us how to use the new Brusho's.
She has a few spaces left on her Brusho Magic class on Sunday 22nd March
if you want to join her.

Lovely aren't they??

You must try to see the demos that we organize every month, it's
a good way to see how to use many of the products in the shop.

Ok, I'm off for now, see you soon,
