Spring bouquet - Karen and Chris

Hi everyone,

Karen and Chris are with us today with more fabulous projects to share.
Karen will be first with a lovely (practical) sample: a comb holder using JOFY 11. Would not this be the perfect addition to your handbag?

I cut some Calico fabric (6x8" / 15 x 20cm) and randomly stamped a crackle pattern using Brilliance Pearlescent Orchid.
Using JOFY 11 stamp set, I stamped the flowers and butterfly using Memento Tuxedo Black.
The images are coloured in with Promarkers.
Then I went over the colours with clear glitter paint before adding some seed beads.
I made a little pocket for the back out of a piece of Calico cut 13/4 x5 1/2" (4.45 x 14 cm) and decorated it in the same way.
To assemble the pocket, tuck in a seam allowance of around 1/4" (0.65 cm) all round and stitch to the one side of the base as shown.
Now take a piece of scrap fabric for the lining (cut the same size as the base) and join together across the top.
Fold in half lengthwise and sew around leaving the bottom of the lining free so that you can turn.
You end up with a tube. Turn, then sew the bottom of the lining closed.
I added a ribbon to the back of my piece to wrap around the button as a closure.

Materials
Promarkers - Sky Blue, Honeycomb, Canary, Bright Green

Chris made a beautiful and colourful card and matching tag using Lin Brown's stamp set (02).

My first step was to create a sheet of card spritzed with Dylusions inks, one in green yellow tones and one in pink orange tones. I also created a masked background for the card by cutting a wavy line through a piece of card and using this to create a spritzed sky and grass. At this point I freehand cut out the pieces for the sun and cut some strips for the top of the tag.

I stamped the tulip head onto the pink and orange coloured card, cut it out then the stem and leaves were stamped onto the yellow and green coloured card and cut out. I cut a card blank and a tag, cut some of the yellow and green card for the background piece for the tag and stamped the butterfly in bottom right corner. I attached the backgrounds to the card and the tag and added some black and white pen doodling around the backgrounds and the sun. The butterfly was stamped onto some of the orange and pink card and cut out then shaped and attached at the centre over the previously stamped butterfly. The tulip was pieced together onto the card and to finish off I added the stamped word flora on the card and fauna on the tag which were stamped onto more of the spritzed card, I also added some glossy accents to the stamp lines of the both the tulip and the butterfly. Finally the strips of coloured paper were glued to the top of the tag.

Spring bouquet - JOFY and Lin Brown

Hi,
Spring? did anyone say spring?
As I write this, spring has been VERY shy so far this year, but I am hoping that, by the time you read this post, we would have finally had some warmer days.
So this week we will celebrate Spring or to invite it to settle once and for all... either/or.... :D

PaperArtsy introduced some new stamps earlier in the year... some designed by the talented Jo Firth Young (aka JOFY)...

others designed by the equally talented Lin Brown

We also have the matching dies for the Lin Brown's stamps.

So who better than the two designers themselves to start the week?
Lin and Jo were kind enough to send me some stunning samples to share with you.

Let's start with Lin ....

Our second Designer Jo has made this beautiful canvas

Paint the canvas board with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints- shading blue to green.
Stencil on meadow flowers with Toad Hall Fresco Finish paint  .
Stamp flower along the bottom edge with black Archival ink
A die cut clock face is added to the canvas
(before gluing in place it was painted dark brown, and drawn lines added)

Once all the stamped flower heads were in place the same flowers were stamped onto various decorative papers and added to the canvas.

Additional detail & shading was added to the flowers with paint and Distress Markers, buttons and layering of papers.

A word strip was added to the bottom edge of the canvas (Tim Holtz Tattered Banners Sizzlit die)

Jo used:
Dies: Tim Holtz/Sizzix:  Tattered Banners & Weathered Clock
