"What a fabulous topic this week, a great reason to get out
my new PaperArtsy JOFY Stamps. I wanted to create something
colourful with texture. So here's my canvas. I'd love to know
what you think and any tips you have when creating a mixed
media canvas. Happy Crafting. X
To make this -
Set the scene.....
To start, create different textures on the canvas board by sticking
on pieces of book pages, washi tape and crumpled tissue paper.
Let dry, then spread random areas of Grunge Paste through the
honeycomb stencil and also without any stencils. Build up the
texture. You can always sand it down later when dry .
When dry, paint entire surface with a couple coats of
white Gesso.
Next paint a sky and grass area using Media Misters to start
with, then with Fresco Finish Paints and more Misters.
Dry and rub over with a sanding block to take some paint off the
raised areas.
Lightly apply some white antiquing cream again catching raised
areas. Seal the canvas with the Satin Finish Varnish.
Now to add some patterns. All in random areas, stamp the
Kaisercraft dictionary and numbers texture stamps with different
colour Stazon inks. Then stamp the Kaisercraft bubble wrap stamp
using white Gesso. Do this without an acrylic block, ink up the
stamp and roll or press down only parts of the stamp.
I keep them on the acetate backing when doing this and
works a treat.
Spread silver embossing paste through Art Is Script stencil in
random areas.
With the yellow embossing paste, spread some on the open
pot rim and press onto canvas. Like a Sun.
Use a spray can lid, spread some more yellow embossing paste on
its edge and press and twist over the first lot of paste. Sprinkle
with glitter jewels iced snow. Leave canvas to dry.
Create the scene.....
Stamp PaperArtsy JOFY images onto white card and then onto
coloured pattern papers and paper piece the designs. Use
pencils to add more colour and a white gel pen to add highlights.
Cover the flowers with glossy accents and coat with glitter
jewels iced snow. With black pen, draw around the edges of
completed pieces.
Stamp FAMILY on more pattern paper.
Using wooden coffee stirrers or lollipop sticks, make a fence
and paint with white acrylic paint, crackle paint and crackle paste.
Build up lots of layers to get it looking like it's old but repainted
year after year.
Arrange your images on the canvas and glue down.
Squeeze Lemon Yellow Liquid Pearls to flower centres.
Dot white Enamel Accents around the grass, like tiny flowers.
Phew that was a long one, but I hope you like the written step
by step, to perhaps help those wanting to try something like
this or inspire seasoned mixed media's.
I personally, was really
pleased with the outcome and will definitely be doing more like
this. It was fun to play and build up the layers".
And we are very pleased with it too Dawn!
Another amazing project, thank you!
