Weekly Challenge

Happy Sunday!

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Wonder what you are all up to?

So here we are again with a new Challenge.

What is it going to be?

I think you can probably guess!

Last week we featured Fish Fingers, so

how about that......did I hear someone say

No Way!!

Haha no I am not that unkind!

I think we have to stay with the sea.  So

 anything to do with the ocean, 

boats, fishes, fishing gear, lighthouse etc

  but NOT the beach.  Oooh 

I am getting tough with you now!  So no 

sandy beaches, beach huts, buckets and

spades etc!!

Right, you have one week, as many entries as

you like, via the link where possible.

Fish Fingers - Neil Walker

Morning all,

Happy weekend everyone, can't believe I
am saying that again so soon!

It is Neil's turn today with our last project
for Fish Fingers week.

He has an amazing layout for you....

Stamp the image onto watercolour card.

Make some seashells using air clay and the mold. 
Die cut some seagulls from white card.

Take Distress Markers and add colour as seen.
 I used the shadow lines of the drawing as an indicator.

Take a filled water brush and begin to pull 
and blend the colours.

Carry on adding colour in stages and blending
 with water.

I do enjoy my Distress Markers and they 
are so easy to use. 

Add colour to the shells using the markers. 
Don't over colour, as when you add water 
you need somewhere to pull the colour to.
 You can see the difference on the two centre shells;
 the left one has just had the marker and the right 
one has been blended with water. 

Add a torn strip of card to the 12 x 12 card. 

Matt your image onto card leaving a generous border.

Add a thin strip of kraft card to the straight 
edge of the torn piece. Glue the image in place 
and glue some of the shells to the bottom. 

 The finished layout. 
The sentiment is from my stash!

Tie some twine around the picture as seen. 
Add your photos. Adhere a selection of the
 gulls to the page.

What a fabulous layout and 
I love the colours Neil has used!

Fish Fingers - Dawn Heald

Hellooo,

Welcome to day two of our Fish Fingers

week!!

Still can't quite believe we have been buying

fish fingers for 60 years!!

Ok, Dawn is here with us today to

share her project with you....

it is a beauty too! 

This is what Dawn says -

Hey there captains, this week as we've gone

 fishing, the Impression Obsession stamps

 are fabulously perfect. What I like about

 these stamps is the way they are drawn.

 The shadows are put in making them easy

 to colour. The card I've made is easy to do

 and by changing the colour it can be made

 for male or female and suit different occasions.

 I fancy one done in pink myself next.

To make this project ....

Using watercolour card throughout.
 Cut three rectangles 10.5 cm x 6 cm

Stamp all over with the Kaisercraft Texture

 Stamps and Clock from Miss Empire set, 

with Stazon Midnight Blue, cut each in half 

on the diagonal as shown. Edge triangles with

 Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.

Arrange on a spare piece of card measuring

 14 cm x 8 cm

Stamp Lighthouse and boat image in Blue Stazon

 and colour with blue Pencils and blender pencil.

 Matt onto another piece of watercolour card.

Affix to card blank. Raising the image with foam tape.

Stamp sentiment in bottom corner, from

 Penny Black set.

Fish Fingers - Karen Gist

Hi everyone,

Welcome to a new week here on the blog!

A little bit of trivia for you......

What have we been buying for the last 60 

years to feed our families????

You'll never guess.....

Fish Fingers

Yes, it is 60 years since Birdseye started

selling us Fish Fingers!

(Thank you for that Dawn)

I'd never have known that.....so to honour 

our amazing fishermen who go out into the

seas everyday in all weathers, we are having 

a wet week here on the blog!

Today we have Karen Gist with her 

Tando Creative Boat Hanging - 

1.  Cover all the pieces with a light coat of

 Gesso. When dry paint the main part of the 

boat and the fish Turquoise.  Paint the flag 

and circles red and the boat planks and

 the whale in Burnt Sienna mixed with 

a little white to lighten it a little.

2.  Over stamp the boards and the whale using

 Stazon Spiced Chai and a wood effect 

background stamp.  On the fish, dab red

 through the Tando Sequin Waste Mask.  

When dry add doodling to the circles.  

Dab White paint randomly & gently through

 the Tim Holtz Bubble mask on the planks,

 the whale & the flag.

3. Glue the elements to the main section of the

 boat.  Add tiny buttons as shown then thread 

up with string.

Karen says she was so engrossed in her

work that she forgot to take more photos!

I think we will forgive her.

Weekly Challenge

Helloooo,

I'm back again with the new Weekly Challenge.

Has somebody taken a day out of every week??

These Sundays seem to be getting closer!!

Well what is it to be this week?

We have covered a lot of different topics

this year and I am running out of ideas

haha!!

What have we been looking at last week?
Christmas..... so how about we stay with 
Christmas, yes I know it's only
September but it is not that far away now!
The way the time is going we will be sitting 
by the fire, drinking tea at 4.30pm with the 
lights on and trying to keep warm.
The forecasters are telling us we are going to
have a really harsh winter, do we believe
them...hmmm not sure!!
Anyway let's make it Christmas but there
has to be snow or snowflakes involved!!
Haha to get you ready for our harsh 
winter.....lots of snow!! 
Can you manage that??

Advent Calendar - Karen Gist

Happy weekend everyone!

Whoop whoop it's Saturday!!

Hope you all have something nice planned,

I'm decorating at home so shall be painting 

and wallpapering, I'm sure you will be doing 

something more exciting than me!!

Well, today we welcome Karen Gist.

Karen was full time on our DT until quite

recently but has now agreed to come

back and share some of her beautiful 

creations with us!!

She has made a lovely project using 

one of the brilliant Tando Creative products!

So, let's see what she has been up to......

Karen has used the new Tando Christmas Shelf

which we will have very soon!!

Karen says -

Glue the pieces of the Tando Tree together

 and cover it with pieces of old book pages.

 When its thoroughly dry and a layer of 

Gesso. Paint some hearts and the star with

 Emperors Gold. Attach the hearts between the

 shelves as shown. 

 Glue lace to the 

edges of the shelves.

Thread up the shelves and the star with the string

 provided. Cover the matchboxes with patterned 

paper (I used parcel paper on some. Mount the

 labels onto the same papers and thread them

 onto the Bakers Twine as you tie it onto the parcels.

Hang the Shelves up and add the parcels in a 

random order.

Wow,wow,wow, isn't this

amazing.....

Advent Calendar - Dawn Heald

Morning all,

Welcome to day two of this weeks posts.

As you know this week we are featuring 

Advent Calendars

Yesterday we kicked off with a fabulous project

from Neil, today Dawn is here!

This is what Dawn says...

I really liked the idea of using an oven 

cupcake tray to make an Advent Calendar.

 To make this one different to ones I've

 seen whilst having a look on the Internet,

 I backed it with a large board and painted 

the tray itself. Another big plus was the 

PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint Colours 

matched the Bo Bunny Altitude Papers perfectly.

 Hope you like this and have a go yourself.

To make this project here are the

 steps taken.....

Cut a piece of cardboard to size required 

and cover with layers of copy paper and glue.

 This made the board stronger.

Next using PaperArtsy Paints and sponges, I

painted the backing board, building up layers.

 It looks a bit scruffy to start with but as layers

 are added with smaller amounts of painted

 areas each time it does come together.

Fussy cut images and areas from the 

Bo Bunny papers and glued to board.

Stencil the snowflakes with blue Stazon

 ink. Use silver gilding flakes sparingly to

 snowflakes. Spritz lightly all over with

 Media white spray. Edge paper images 

with Distress markers. Add faux stitching 

with white gel pen. Dab glue in areas

 and sprinkle with Silver glass glitter.

The cupcake tray was sponged with white

 Gesso and sprayed with silver acrylic 

paint and cosmic shimmer silver spray.

Make the advent number toppers by painting

 Tando Creative Advent calendar numbers

 with black paint, applying a thick layer of

 Glossy Accents, let dry and add clear

 gems.

Then using Bo Bunny papers, punching

 ovals and trimming edges off. Punch circles

 and edge all with Distress Ink and Midnight 

Blue Stazon Ink. 

Glue numbers

 to front and magnets to the back.

Decorate the board and tray with gems. 

Attach tray to board with hot glue.

Note. I used glossy accents throughout

 as I wanted the tray to last a few Christmas

 times.

 The magnets - you can use the roll

 or sheets cut up or the mini ones 

online. 

Tip -The best way to glue the tray to board

 using hot glue is to apply hot glue to middle

 sections of tray, turn over and attach to

 backing board. Then go in the sides of the

 tray applying hot glue around the edge sections.

 I tried doing it all at once and by time reach

 bottom the top is cold and dry. Another 

way is work quickly then when stuck tray to

 board use heat gun from behind to reactivate

 any dry and not attached glue and press down.

Oh my goodness, I love this!!!!

Especially the colours, beautiful!
