Two Weekly Challenge

Helloooo,

Good morning to you all!
Hope Storm Katie's not been
too unkind to us so far, I have a day
planned in the garden finishing off the base
for my new cabin coming tomorrow,
so hope we don't get too wet!! Or
blown away!  Haha, if I'm not back
here tomorrow with the winners post
then you know I am.....gone with the
wind!

Right, let's get down to the important
stuff....our new Challenge.

I'm thinking as it's been Easter, I'm
not going to say eggs or the word
Easter, that would be too obvious!
How about Rabbit, yes there has
to be a rabbit and there has to be an
Oval somewhere, wherever you like
but the two items must be there!

That's not too hard is it?
No I think not!

Well you must know the rules by now,
as many entries as you like, you have
almost two weeks, today being Monday.
Entry via the link where possible, it will close
at midnight on Sunday 10th April.
If you can't use the link then send
your pics to me at
janecraftbarn@gmail.com

The winner will be picked by Random
Generator and announced on
Tuesday 12th April.  There will be a
£10 voucher as a prize!

That's all for today folks,
see you tomorrow with our latest
winner!

Easter - Dawn Heald

Morning all,

Happy Easter!!

Hope you are all having a good, restful
time.  Pity about the weather but we
wouldn't expect anything else!

Dawn is here today to show
you her really lovely Easter card.

Dawn says -
Hi crafty friends, Happy Easter and hope
you have a lovely long weekend. Today's
card is simple but shows the versatility of
our day to day Crafting supplies. I try
to use these to fit in with holidays,
celebrations and special occasions rather
than purchase a lot of specific items that
would only rarely be used. That's just
my way. I hope this gives you some
ideas or inspiration and to look at
what you do have, to go with some new treats!

To make this card....
Ink the edges of a card blank and stick a
base of pattern paper to this, also
 with inked edges.

Next cut or die cut an oval shape. Stamp
the PaperArtsy circles all over, colour
with Distress crayons, by applying colour
directly and blend with water brush.  Stamp,
colour, cut out the bird in same way.

Attach ribbon across the middle of your egg.
Then on the reverse of the oval egg stick
ribbon around the edge, pleating as you go.

Attach to you card with double thickness
of foam pads. Same with bird.

Simple, none specific stash that shows
 the occasion. I hope. Lol!

This is so pretty, love the soft colours
used and perfect for Easter!!
Thank you Dawn!

Products used -

From own stash - Ribbon,
Scallop Edged Card Blank

I will be back tomorrow with the
Two Week Challenge.
This is the only time it will be delayed,
it's not going to be on Mondays!!

Easter - Neil Walker

Morning all,

Hope you are enjoying your Easter
weekend although the forecast is not
too good!  Typical Bank Holiday
weekend weather!

Neil is with us this morning to
show us his clean and simple
Easter cards!  I absolutely love
this and the stamp, just
beautiful!

Neil says....
Clean and simple to the max this week.
Simply fold a piece of A5 white card
in half. Stamp the heart onto the front using
 Jet Black Archival ink.

 Use a black pen and
write the verse along the top and bottom
of the card. Use the pen and a
 ruler to add your border.
I think these make a simple, heartfelt Easter
 card for someone special.

The verse is so appropriate for Easter
and I do like Black and white.
Simple but striking!
Thank you Neil.

What did Neil use -

Ok, slight change of plan for this
weekend only, Dawn will be with you
tomorrow and her Easter project and
Monday will be the Two Week
Challenge!

See you tomorrow,

Jane x

Alpha/Dictionary Challenge 2016

Happy Sunday everyone!

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend!

It's Sunday and that means Challenge Day
and this time it is The Alpha/Dictionary
Challenge!

Time for a new letter me thinks!

I have been getting our DT to pick
the letters and today it is Neil's
turn and he has gone for the letter....

G

So that is what we are going for, the
letter G with no twists but be prepared for
some twists coming up soon!!

Karen has added this lovely Giraffe
to her tray!

and this to be added to Neil's book..

So what will you go for?
Garden, Gloves, Gold....
oooh the list is endless and I'd love to know
how you choose what word you decide on!

The rules -
Ok, Sandy and I have had a chat about the
rules, originally, we said that you needed
to add into your project, the dictionary
definition.  This is how the challenge was
run last time.  I had a few enquiries about
changing it slightly to include a fun or different
definition rather than the dictionary definition,
just so that it gave a bit of variety
from last time for those who have already
taken part.
I thought this might be a fun way of just
changing the rules slightly.  Sandy has agreed
so for those of you who want to use your own
definition, that is fine!  Go for it!
You have two weeks, the link will close
at midnight on Sunday 3rd April.
Entries via the link or send your pics to
janecraftbarn@gmail.com
and as many entries as you like!
The winner will be announced on Tuesday
5th April and will be picked by
Random Generator!

So pick your G word and go for it!!

See you soon,

Jane x

Green - Neil Walker

Morning all,

The weekend is here again!
Hope you all have something excited
planned!
It's our second day featuring Green
and oh my goodness what a fabulous
project we have here for you from Neil!!
This is amazing, you are going to love it!

Neil has made for us....

An altered letter rack in shades of green!

Cut three pieces of card to fit inside the letter
rack and apply texture sand through the mask,

Vary your placement to create three different
 pieces.

Apply texture sand to the letter rack.

Leave everything to dry thoroughly.

Use Fluid Acrylic to add colour to the rack and
the textured card.

Add washes of Transparent Red and Yellow Iron
Oxide to add age and depth.

Stamp the map image onto white tissue

Apply to the inside areas of the rack with
 Faux Finishing Medium

The finished rack.

Add a bit of metallic highlights with Treasure
 Copper.

Add further detail using Liquid Pearls to finish.

Fabulous Neil, if you want to have a go,
this is what'll you need -

Well that's all for today, I'll
be back tomorrow with our next letter
for The Alpha/Dictionary Challenge!
Oooooh wonder what it will be this time?

Green - Dawn Heald

Helloooo,

How are you all?
Well I expect you all know that 17th March
is St Patrick's Day.
Rather that get the DT to do something
for that 'day' which I'm sure we've done before,
we gave them the colour green.
Not a colour that I would normally consider
to be in my comfort zone.
Today we start with Dawn.

Dawn says.....

I've decided to go all out green in my
handmade art journal. This page is a
few book pages glued together to make
a sturdy page. It may bring me some
luck as I think I could do with some.

To make this page.....

I painted all over with various Fresco Finish
paints. Using just the one brush and
not drying until I'd finished painting.

Next up I used the Eclectica Stamps with
paint to stamp randomly over the page.
Then used grey Stazon for the single round
stamp and black Stazon around the page edges.

Next I made some four leaf clovers by
punching some hearts and edging with
Pistachio Distress Ink then gluing to the
centre of a punched circle. Then hand
 cut some strips for stems.
I glued these to my page and added my
journal words. Finished off with lime green
 Stickles Glitter Glue.

What a clever way to use your punch!

Thank you Dawn, hope this has inspired
you to get those punches out and
have a play!

See you tomorrow,

Jane x
