Hi,
Michelle and Karen with us today with more lovely Crafty Individuals samples. Both of them are doing the Calendar this year, so you have two samples for your challenge inspiration.
Both used the new Crafty Individuals masks. I like how Karen outlined hers, it really makes it pop.
What do you think?
I love the richness of this page but the look can't be achieved without very inky fingers so be prepared!
To create the background I first inked the page liberally with Crushed Olive, Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door Distress inks.
Then laid the stencil over the page along the bottom, left hand side and top right and brushed Gathered Twigs Distress ink lightly through the stencil.
To finish off the background I edged the card with Gathered Twigs Distress ink.
The image was then stamped in position on the page and again on a spare piece of card using Versafine ink.
After inking the image in the same way as the background I bleached out the head, breast and legs of the wren and mounted it over the previously stamped image with foam pads. I popped a small dot of Glossy Accents on the wren's eye to make it shine.
The calendar sheet was simply inked in the same way and mounted on the page.
To make the page Michelle used
Crafty Individuals mask: Beautiful butterflies
CI-183 - Bird in Flourish Frame
Versafine Onyx Black

Using low tack adhesive I attached the mask to my card then coloured with Distress Inks in Wild Honey, Worn Lipstick & Brushed Corduroy. I over stamped with Impression Obsession crackle stamp and stamped the stalks & birds from PaperArtsy HotPicks 1005 in Versafine Vintage Sepia. I used a brown fine tip pen to go round the birdcage image to give it more definition. The Tando Mini Bird was coloured with the same Distress Inks. The leaves were coloured to match and the quote is computer generated.
Material used:
Crafty Individuals Bird cage Mask
Impression Obsession stamp: Craquelure
Artemio Leaves

Using Distress Inks in Weathered Wood & Black Soot I coloured the whole background. Then, using the mask as a stencil I simply drew around it 3 times with a black fine liner. Taking a white pen I highlighted the centre cage only and drew a line around the edge. The sentiment is from PaperArtsy Hot Picks 1005.
