Simply Saturdays with Gay and Jane

hi,
Last day for the oil pastel week. Wasn't it an amazing week for inspiration and techniques?
Today, for Simply Saturdays, Gay has made a couple of Halloween cards I absolutely love (especially the skull one). As I mentioned earlier this week, you will find her "dripping technique" on this card too, in red and with a candle this time, very effective I think...

Please let us know what you think of these cards and of the Oil Pastels/Halloween week in a comment below.

The stamps were an absolute delight, I used second and third generation stamping on many of the images. Colouring with oil pastels, although I find it very messy worked well for the texture and great for Hallow'een! I used baby oil on a cotton bud to blend them.
This large card is a whole A4 piece of card folded lengthwise and would need a special envelope or box if you needed to send it, luckily I will be giving this to my gruesome grand daughters for their celebrations ooooaaaahhhh!!!!

This small card has a red candle melted over the top, looks a little like blood!! (I hope )

Gay used:
PaperArtsy Stamps: Halloween 1
Oil Pastels in Black, Violet, Grey and Olive Green
Crafty Individuals tree stamps CI-209
Metallic F/X Silver mica powder for the small card
Cosmic Shimmer: Silver embossing powder for the skull and crossbones

Our special off this week

  3. 2 brilliant cards. I love the effect of the 2nd generation stamping. You've used the stamps really well combined with the pastels to give a suitably sombre atmosphere.

  4. This is really striking. Love the lone crow. The verse is great. The melted candle is a lovely (maybe that's not exactly the right descriptive word!!) touch. Good luck with the new premises.
