Simply Sizzix Saturday

Hello,
Last day for our Sizzix week. We hope that you enjoyed it and found a lot of inspiration on our blog.
Last but not least, Gay has made no less than 3 beautiful samples for you : one canvas and 2 cards using the reindeer Sizzix die.

This is a little canvas, I cut the reindeer out of clear shrink plastic and shrunk them, then painted them in Pebeo fantasty Moon Gold and Chocolate.
(More about Pebeo paints next week....)
Rudolph was coloured with a Sepia Copic pen and has a little red heart as his nose. The canvas has Mod Roc in layers on the lower half, soaked in warm water and shaped into snow drifts, I painted with Fresco paint when it was completely dry. Sparkle for stars and snow. The beads are strung on stretch elastic and the bells tinkle when gently shaken or moved with your hand.
The numbers were painted with Alcohol inks.

For the card

The die was cut in copper metal and heated to get variations in colour, I embossed with a Couture Creation's embossing folder
The sentiment was stamped then inked and mounted onto copper mirri card.
Little tip for the reindeer's eye, A small pearl with black copic around the base looks quite like an eye, but you must keep a steady hand :0)

Hobby Art Sentiment stamp, New Year Bright
Mirri card, copper
Distress inks: Barn Door, Rusty Hinge

I stamped the border stamp with the Indigo Blu glue and gilded the images. The reindeer was cut out and I used alcohol inks to colour before I shrank it. A little tip here, I don't have a brown ink so I mixed red and green on the felt, I'm quite happy with the result! It looks brown like a reindeer to me! The edges of the card were distressed with TH inks and the reindeer adhered with Pinflair glue gel.

  1. Great samples. Really love the use of the copper sheet - I haven't done the heating thing for ages. . . . My favourite one is the last: the stamping and adding the gilding flakes is gorgeous. Lovely work.
