Gifted

Gifted

Hallo There!

I have a great project for
you today that will take
you back to when the
Milkman, or Insurance Man
or whoever, called to collect
his money at the end of the
week.............

Helen Chilton has updated the
Magic Wallet and here she is
to reveal all ........

"For my magic wallet I've deliberately
made one cover feminine and one cover masculine
to show that they work for anybody.

You can match your covers up to suit the occasion.

Cut two pieces of Bo Bunny Beautiful Dreamer
text paper, 12cm x 9cm in size.

Stamp the Woodware stamps over the top.

Colour them in with coloured pencils.

Add torn scraps of paper from the same
collection top and bottom and put to one side.

For the inside covers cut two pieces of
paper and stick to mount board.

Get out your ribbons, different colours for each side.

Fold and stick edges of green ribbon
over left hand side, holding the cross
together in the middle.

Lay right hand cover next to it on top
of the green ribbon and stick the ends to
the back of the right hand cover.

The back looks like this.

Fold over and stick ends of yellow ribbon
to back of right hand side of right hand cover.

Tuck other ends under the left hand cover
and stick to back of left hand cover..

The magic wallet mechanism is now complete.

Note the ribbons do not touch each
other's space - this is crucial for the
mechanism to work.

Stick the main covers to the mount board
 and add embellishments.

Open wallet - the card is on the right.

Close back cover over the top.

Open wallet from right hand side again
and the card will have switched sides,
 just like magic!"

Materials used:

Woodware
Bo Bunny
Derwent

That's a great way to present a
gift card Helen, thank you.

Of course you could always
use the new Woodware Christmas
stamps and make some seasonal
gift cards ahead of time.........

Leave you with that thought...

Till tomorrow

Fond Farewell

Fond Farewell

Hi There!

It's the end of the week already!

For any of you as time
challenged as me I would advise
a more realistic expectation
of what we can achieve in a
 week is called for........

Louise Thomson is with us
today to share a leaving card

"I started this project by applying strips
of random Washi tape on to a piece of
white card.

I gave it a coating in Nougat
 fresco paint, followed by
some jade paint.

I added water and wiped back some
of the jade fresco paint to keep it
 light and textured.

Using more fresco paints as an ink,
I stamped the IO clouds stamp.

The archival ink used here is permanent
and perfect for stamping over shinier
surfaces like that of the Washi tape.

I ended up using three of the four
colours in the new archival mini set one.

I wanted a bit more texture so I
used a set of nesting circle dies
to create rings

Then on a spare piece of paper I
 stamped the air balloon again,
cut it out and mounted it using
 lots of 3d foam pads.

Next I used dies to cut out the
lettering I wanted...

and spritzed with colour bloom
 for a shimmery, textured finish

I added the lettering and highlighted it
using fineliner, then popped a border
around the edge to finish."

Materials;

Washi tape
Fresco paints (Nougat and jade)

A lovely card Louise,
many thanks

Entirely appropriate for
us too as we go on to
a new week.....

'Till tomorrow

Oxidised

Oxidised

Hi Everyone!

Good to see you
are you doing anything
exciting this weekend?

I'm off to Kit and Kaboodle
where we will be making a
Decorative Gardener's Seed Box

Hmmm.... can't help thinking there
should be some punctuation in
there somewhere..............!

Apropos Decorative - Louise Thomson
is here today with a cute piece of
home decor..........

"The basic plan:

A bit of good ol’ ink smooshing…

Followed by some yummy texture paste… (I know you’ve seen the stencil before but I do rather love it!)

Stamping some feathers in Distress Oxide ink on tissue paper while the texture paste dries…

It’s funny how techniques come and go.
I was about to painstakingly cut around
these and try to give them a soft feathery
look at the same time when I remembered
something I used to do with mulberry paper a lot…

A quick wizz around the shapes with a wet paintbrush and 30 seconds later…

Presto! Muchos time saved 😃

Back to the canvas....
and it is time to really start having fun.
Plenty more ink added (mostly vintage photo, walnut stain and peeled paint) I also used a wet baby wipe to take back some of the ink in places to create more variation.

Adding water is what really makes the
oxides come alive…
suddenly they spread revealing a whole host
of the colours they are made up of.

Starting to get really involved now…
I add some brushos.

Initially on top of the wet canvas,
then after it has dried I add more
before splattering with more water.

Now completely carried away,
out comes the white gelly roll pen
 (another staple favourite)
for a bit of doodling.

No shortcuts this time
I stamp and cut around two birds
from the Bo Bunny set.

Distress Oxides make a lovely paint too-
I just smooshed a bit on my non-stick mat
and picked them up with a wet paintbrush.

Remember the feathers? –
time to add them back in.

I tried using pva but being a
water based glue it made the
ink run.

For take-two I used pritt stick
and it was fine.

Also added in at this point are
branches adapted from the
wildflowers die set and coated
in more Oxide ink.

‘Lifted’ with a handwritten sentiment on
scraps of card with fossilized amber Oxide ink
blended on and broken china
splattered over the top.

And just when I thought I had finished
I suddenly found myself with the
white gelly roll pen in hand again
and thus a border was added!"

Thank you Louise
for a beautiful canvas
Love the depth you have
achieved in the woodland

Don't know about you
guys out there but I love
the way Louise lets us in
to her creative process

'Till tomorrow
