New Home

New Home

Hi Everyone!

We have the final instalment
of our New Home celebrations
today.  All these lovely projects
this week have brought on
the wanderlust .........  only
just curbed by the very thought
of packing up my craft room......

Here is Jane Castle to take
my mind off it .........

"Hi everyone, today I'd like to share
 with you my project using
the fab stamps by Riley and Company
 called Mushroom Lane.

They each have an amazing amount
of detail and stamp beautifully crisp
and clear..... what more could we ask for!

To begin with I started with a 15cm x 15cm
Kraft card as my base and cut a piece of
mixed media card 14cm x 14cm.

For the tag I used the largest of the dies from a set
from my stash and cut a matching tag
from some kraft card and then
cut the mixed media card a little smaller.

The card was coloured using a brayer
and various Fresco paints.

Then using some Distress Ink, a sponge and
stencil added some fern leaves to the centre
part of the card to frame my main image.

These leaves were then brushed with mica
powder adding a slight sheen and extra interest.

I then stamped my main image several times
using Distress Oxide Ink onto some spare
cream coloured card ready to cut out various layers.
These were coloured with Distress Markers
and the white stones around the door and
the picket fence were coloured using a fine white
pigment pen.

Welcome' was die cut using some scrap card.

The main image was stamped onto my
background card and the aerial was
 heat embossed with clear EP.

The card was then assembled using Pinflair glue
and to finish Enamel Accents were added
to the corners.

I think you can just see in the photo
how the light on the mica powder changes
the colour of the fern leaves around
the mushroom house and shed.

Now to finish the tag -----

I stamped the main image onto the largest tag
and heat embossed with clear EP.

Next I stamped the 'Home is Where the Heart is'
onto the smaller tag that had been coloured
 with paint.

I was not completely happy with the sizing
so decided to cut the painted tag again
one size smaller which I felt worked
so much better.

The smaller tag was attched with foam pads
and a hole punched in the top for some ribbon.

I think these stamps make a great addition
to any crafters tool box and I will
be purchasing more in the future."

New Home

New Home

Hallo There!

I read somewhere that
the school holidays are
becoming the time to
move house.  It seems
that nowadays pupils
should live in the
right catchment area

Fitting the move in
with the family summer
holiday must take a bit
of juggling...........

Here's Hazel Harler with a
super tutorial for us

"Hi there, today I'm sharing with you a
New Home card and gift tag using a
Riley and Company Mushroom Lane stamp.

First I stamped the image onto white card
 using black Archival ink.

The image was coloured with watercolour pencils
 and a water brush.

I coloured a piece of white card with
fossilized amber distress oxide.

I stamped some dots round the edge using a
 Paperartsy/Lin Brown stamp and
 fired brick distress oxide.

I then matted the background onto some
red card and then onto a yellow card blank
 - if you haven't got a yellow card blank
colour the edges of a white one with
 fossilized amber distress oxide ink.

I matted the image onto some red card
leaving the bottom a little longer than the image.
I wrapped some yellow ribbon round the bottom
and then I attached it to the card blank.

I attached the sentiment [stamp unknown],
some tiny flowers and ladybirds
that I found in my stash.

Now for the key fob:

I stamped the image onto shrink plastic
with black Stazon ink.....

....then coloured the image with watercolour
pencils but didn't use any water.

I punched a hole at the top and used
a corner punch to round the corners.

I made a tag to match the card and
heated the shrink plastic with my
heat gun to shrink it then
I attached a key ring.

I punched a hole at the top of the tag
and attached the key ring with some ribbon.

I added a few flowers and a ladybird.

The finished card and tag."

Thank you for a lovely card
and gift tutorial Hazel

I rather like the key fob -
might also go well in a
Christmas cracker..........

Oh my goodness!  I've used
the C word - I'd better go
before anyone notices.....

'Till tomorrow

New Home

Hi there!

I'm still attempting to get a
stock of cards together so I
don't get caught out......again!
How're you doing?

Angela Radford is here today
with another background
card and tag set for us.....

"Here today to show you a card
I've made using a Mushroom Lane
 stamp, they are so cute.

I started by making a background paper
using a Tim Holtz stencil with the
Oxide inks.

Once that was complete I used another
Tim stencil with crackle paste to add
more texture and when that was dry
I rubbed over it gently with gilding wax.

For the main image I began by die cutting
a square of card and applying oxide ink.

Splattered water on this and used tissue to
remove some of the ink.

I used Flitter glue with the stamp.

Apply the stamp lightly as this is very sticky
and don't leave it on the card for too long
or it can be difficult to remove.
I know this from experience!

Apply the gilding flakes then rub away
the excess.

Next I mounted coloured card to the
craft card blank.
This photograph really shows you how shiny
the gilding flakes are.

Using some of the left over background card
and lace, I made a band to go across the card.

And so to the completion.

Before adding the band, I applied a sentiment.

I decided to make an extra mat from
one of the Craft cards

Here is the completed card.

I made a small gift tag to go with it using some
left over background card and some wooden
embellishments decorated with gilding wax
and gilding flakes. Finished off by adding
Bakers Twine and blue pearls

This close up shows the tag much better
 and the gilding.

Hope you enjoyed watching me make this

Happy crafting, Angela xXx

impressive I have to say

New Home

New Home

Hallo Everyone!

People seem to be on the
move all the time nowadays
and I don't know about you but
for all I know someone is about
to move house, when they do
it comes as a complete
surprise and I am left scurrying
about getting a card together in
double quick time!  Well, no
more surprises; from now on
we shall have something suitable
to commemorate the occasion
all ready and waiting ..........

Here is Craftyfield who has
come in to stop me rambling on....

"The Mushroom Lane stamps are lovely
images to colour and so whimisical I wanted
to give a house to my faerie...

In almost a negative from the card I stamped
the tags with white ink, for a totally different look.

For the card I stamped the image on white
cardstock with Memento black dye ink.
This is the best ink for colouring with
alcohol pens as alcohol doesn't affect it.

After colouring I die-cut the image
for the best fit on my stepper.

I also stamped a few grasses and flowers
to create a garden for the left of
my stepper, on a separate piece of card,
placing a fairy amongst the vegetation.

I added a subtle glitter accent with a
Spica pen in lavender to make the wings visible.

I created my side stepper, with an A4 piece
of cardstock from which I cut 1.7cm off the
 length, keeping the entire width.
This makes all the measuring easier.

The side stepper folded:

For the tag, since this is a BIG stamp,
I layed my 2 tags side by side and
 stamped both at once.

2 upsides: I get 2 matching but completely
different tags and I only ink,
 stamp & clean once...

no, not lazy just keen on efficiency!

Before colouring... I stamped the image
in white but tried to use the same
colours as for the card
(it's the same house after all!)

For colouring, I only used pencils,
no solvent, blender or burnishers,
and yet obtained a very good coverage
 of the coloured cardstock.

The Coloursoft pencils are very good at
laying opaque colours quickly without
need for layers upon layers of pencils."

Thank you for a great project
Craftyfield and such a clear
template too!  Suddenly the
construction of a stepper has
come clear to me!

'Till tomorrow
