Dimensional

Dimensional

Today we have Dawn Heald  to
show us a beautiful bowl she has created:

I've made a shaped button bowl and I'll be honest it was meant to be a flower bowl. However, with a slip of my scissors and a couple plasters later, it changed. I'm overall pleased as these make handy little bowls easy to get at the contents.

You can make papier mache shapes using a variety of different sturdy objects. Just wrap in plastic wrap/cling film first to prevent the paper sticking to your objectives.

To make this project.

Choose object shape to use as a Mold. Cover with cling film first to prevent the paper sticking to your object. Tear small pieces of book pages and glue them all over your object. Build up as many layers as you like depending on how thick you want it. Leave to dry naturally.
Then remove object from the papier mache. You may need to cut down it to prise is off. If so simply use small pieces of book pages and glue back together. Dry and then trim and neaten edges to get shape you want. Neaten further by sanding and applying glue on very edge.
Paint all over with watered down white gesso

When dry apply colour all over using Alchemy Wax using sponge and or paintbrush.

Now make some embellishments with Shell Mold and paper clay, painted with Starlight Paint and Pink Alchemy Wax. Make some little fishes by Stamping Fish stamps onto Frosted shrink plastic, die cut, colour with clear sparkle pen and shrink with heat tool.

Back to the bowl, sponge edges and stamp the little asterisks all over the outside with Black Stazon Ink. Then add dots of White PVA glue all around outside. Dry.

Stick embellishments around outside of bowl. Add further decoration with buttons and Peacock Stickles.

Collage

Collage

Here we are betwixt and between
the two main events - I have heard
it called "Twixtmas".  Oh dear........!

Hazel Harler has brought us a
journal page to give us some
quality crafting time away from
it all:

For my collage piece I did a mixed media journal spread.

I collected lots of bits and pieces together

I glued my chosen bits into my journal.

Then I gave the pages a thin coat of gesso.

The pages were painted with Fresco Finish paints

I added some Infusions and sprayed with water - I didn't like the result

I used a yellow Inktense pencil and brush to change the result of the Infusions.
I have no photos of the next couple of steps as it was getting quite dark.

I use an Impression Obsession background stamp
with a green distress ink on the pages,

I then spread sherbert Alchemy Wax over the raised areas then decided
to spread it lightly over the whole project - it toned down the colours

A close up showing the Alchemy Wax.

I stamped the Impression Obsession background stamp
onto white card with Leaf Green Archival Ink
and then stamped the Paperartsy images with black Archival Ink.

I tore the images out and glued them to the pages.
I added some cotton and green gems,

the words were stamped onto white card and cut out,
I went round them with black pen after I'd glued them to the pages.

I sprayed some brimstone wings Color Bloom
onto card and punched out some butterflies

Another close up:

Thank you Hazel
a fabulous page

Haven't touched my journal in a while so think
this project has me reaching for it............
Yes, I do type one handed when I have to!!

See you all again tomorrow

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

Greetings to all!

Claire Jackson is with us again
today with a beautiful Christmas card

Here she is to talk us through it:

Stamp and emboss the reindeer in gold
on 3 different patterned papers and a plain cream paper

Cut a piece of card 5” square and stamp the wreath
in pine needles Distress Ink.

Dust the card with an anti static bag / talc
to make sure the ink is completely dry before stamping
and embossing the reindeer in gold over the top

Squish the evergreen bough ink onto a craft mat
and with a water brush use it to colour the leaves.

Colour the berries with cardinal red ProMarker

Cut sections from each of the different papers
and use them to piece together over the reindeer,
sticking them down with gel medium or clear glue.

Add a shadow around the reindeer with grey ProMarker.

Add glitter glue to the berries and small gems
 to the saddle and eye

To mount the reindeer I found some green patterned paper
and stamped over it with a Card-Io branch in pine needles ink
to tie it in to the main image.

Materials used:

Lindsay Mason Zentangle Clear Stamp: zendoodle reindeer ready to go
Woodware clear stamp: sketchy wreath
Card-io clear stamp: greenery 1
Versafine: onyx black
Distress Ink: pine needles, evergreen bough
Multi medium matte
ProMarkers: cardinal red, warm grey 2
Stickles glitter glue: cranberry, distress fired brick
Gems

Merry Christmas everyone and I wish 2017 brings you good health and happiness
and of course many hours of happy crafting.

Thank you Claire
We all wish you a Merry Christmas too
and look forward to more crafty goodness
in 2017

Pumpkin Scarecrow & Halloween

Pumpkin Scarecrow & Halloween

This week we have lots to inspire you with
for your Halloween makes and we start
with a project from

Dawn Heald:

I grunged up the Tando Creative Cobweb,
by painting on a layer each of
Crackle Paste,
white Snowflake paint and Starlights Pearl paint.
Allow each layer dry before adding the next.
Finally I dabbed on Gunmetal Stickles.

I made a background board for the Web to go on.
I did this by cutting a square of thick cardboard recycling a delivery box.
Next I glued on layers of torn book pages.
When dried I sanded the edges,
then added stencil patterns with Grunge Paste.
I put Grunge Paste around the edges too.
When dry I painted a thin layer of
Starlights Orange Oxidised and Antique Pink paints
all over the board, allowing the book page printing to
show through in places.
Then I rubbed Alchemy Wax Lavender over the Grunge Paste.

To go with the Web, I made a spider with hat from Air Dry Clay.

I painted the spider with Black Gesso and his boots and hat with Liquid Pearls.
Also dabbed some Liquid Pearls and Gunmetal Stickles to the Spider
Embellishments.

To finish I glued the Web, Spider and Embellishments
to the background board and added some
Stickles Glitter Glue lines for pieces of Web
and some black gems.

Thank you Dawn, I love that cheeky spider.
This would be a fun project to make with the
children

See you all tomorrow
