Easter Egg

Easter Egg

Hi There!

Hope the day is bright and
cheery but worry not if its
downcast, cold and dreary
the whole family can get
involved with today's
bright and colourful project
from Helen Chilton

"Journal page using Lin Brown stamps,
 Dylusions sprays, rub ons, words
and lots of colour!

Had the stamped and coloured labels
already for another project and
decided to use them up.

Added more background stamping.

Stamped the flowers and birds then
painted all over in white and stamped
again over the top."

Many thanks Helen for this
lovely page

Certainly shows how it is possible
to become completely engrossed
in journalling doesn't it?

A quick tip from me too : if you
leave your journal open on your
desk you will automatically add
to it.  If you keep it away on a
shelf or in a draw you will rarely
do any work in it

"Till tomorrow

Springtime

Springtime

Hallo There!

I don't know why I called this
thread Springtime -must be
wishful thinking!

You never know, by the time
this project is published it
may well be spring........
meantime it is bitter cold
and I was not made for
bitter cold.................don't
suppose you were either

To take us into a springlike
state, here's Helen Chilton
with a gorgeous tag

"For this tag I'm using Distress Crayons, which
I really love. They have one distinct advantage
over Gelatos - if you heat them with a heatgun,
they will dry, not remain tacky.

This means you can stamp over them easily
and add more colour over the top
without it being contaminated by
 the colour beneath.

I've painted the tag with a thin layer
of clear medium - any varnish or sealer will do.
 It helps the crayons blend.

Scribble on your colours.

Blend with your fingers.

Stencil over with a baby wipe.

take out a bit of extra colour where you're
 going to stamp.

Stamp the art stamps, heat set and add
extra crayon over the top.
Layer onto cardboard and add fibres and beads.

Very quick and easy to make."

That was a treat of a project
Helen.  Many thanks for the
tips on using the DI Crayons too

If you are interested in adding
Distress Crayons to your stash
they are currently on offer at
a reduced price at
www.thecraftbarn.co.uk
head on over and grab
a bargain

Boxing Clever

Boxing Clever

Hi There!

Beautiful sunshine here today!
Woohoo!
Hope you have sunshine too
wherever you are

Helen Chilton dropped by with
a clever idea that would work
with any small box - might
be one to try in the Easter Holidays
if the weather turns inclement ...

"Here's my box. I actually used a domino box
and took the lid off so I could make
 a diorama:

Painted the box in PaperArtsy Fresco,
Pixie Dust and Starlights Rich Gold on the edge.

Covered the box inside and out
with some rice paper

Used this Crafty Individuals stamp on some card

watercoloured the image and then cut out the bits I wanted.
Gathered together some twiddly bits and added them all on"

This is delightful Helen, thank you very much

I have a small stash of rice paper.
Of course, I have watercolour and
I'm sure I can find a suitable box....

Guess what I shall be doing
 this afternoon..............?!!

'Till tomorrow

Hallo Everyone!

How are you doing? Trust
all is well in your world

We have a lovely project
today from Helen Chilton
it reminds me that Spring
is on its way...... Yayyy!!

"A small media board using Tando die cuts
and Lin Brown stamps

The possibilities here are endless;
just use whatever colouring mediums you
have to hand i.e pencils, crayons, Gelatos,
paints or even a mixture of all of
the above and once satisfied with
the colouring, assemble all the pieces
and glue them in place"

Thank you Helen for a bright and
cheerful project

A lovely way to use up all
those bits and pieces we
seem to accumulate on our
desks.

Well, I think that will keep
me occupied for a while....

'Til tomorrow

PS did I mention there are some super
Tando Creative items in the SALE?

Hallo Everyone!

Valentine's Day might be over
but we are going to spread the
love over the rest of the week!

Helen Chilton has joined us today
with a delightful piece of home
decor........

"Decorated a wooden heart with some
of the blotting up paper I used in my
last project - the Woodware house card.

I just stuck the kitchen towel onto the
wooden heart making sure there were
crumpled bits for texture.
I then washed it over with some
Imagination Crafts Starlights Rich Gold paint.

The Imaginations Crafts poppies are stamped
in ink and then over coloured with pencils.

Again I added some Rich Gold Starlights
 for sparkle.

The green pearl is coloured with
alcohol ink pens."

Thank you Helen, I love how you have
decorated this heart

These hearts make lovely gifts
and can be decorated in a style
to suit any occasion.  Don't forget
the School and Church Bazaars, they
sell well there too!

Might be worthwhile checking in the
to see what else can be given
the Helen treatment...........

Hallo Everyone!

There's a bit of theme
going on this month....
something to do with
hearts....................!

In case you hadn't noticed
it is time to make that
(or even those) Valentine
.......

Helen Chilton is going to
start us off with a lovely
tag:

"Very simple background using Distress inkpads
on a craft mat and then glossy card dipped in.

I've used some washi tape to add extra
details and finished with some hardware.

The stamp itself is one of the newer
Woodware ones and comes as 7 separate
stamps so you can build your house
as you please."

Thank you Helen. I like the
simplicity of this tag

So Everyone - all you need is
a stamp/stamp set, a
couple or three ink pads
and a few spare minutes.....!

Happy Sunday Everyone!

There's a treat for you today,
Helen Chilton popped in with
a delightful canvas  to remind
us all of beach days and
holidays to come......

"I love this fish bones stencil by Crafters Workshop:

To start off with I'm using a sprayed book page
as my background and then some
Sea Green Infusions.

Once you've sprinkled the powder, spritz and blot.

Here's the result.

After that I added coloured Grunge Paste
stencilling over the top.

Then I doodled some outlines in black
and white to make it pop."

Thanks Helen, reminds me of that
canvas we did a couple of years
ago - how quick the time passes

I think I might adapt this to make
a triptych using the other two
fish on the stencil.

Hallo Everyone!

How's it going?........
You know, if often wondered
what is being referred to.....
Well, whatever, everything is
good in my little corner of
the crafty world and I hope it
is the same in yours

Helen Chilton has a tag for us
today using just one set of
stamps.  Take a look:

Lots of zingy colours on this tag.

Scrape on some Zesty Zing with a
plastic card and let dry.

Add patches of white especially where
you're going to stamp the face.

Stamp main image in black and then add
parts of the image to create a diagonal design.

Fill in with stencilling with Distress Oxides

Layer onto black card and add embellishments."

Thanks Helen, so bright and
cheerful on this grey January day!

Of course, it doesn't have to be
this particular set of stamps - it
could be any, or even a selection
of individual stamps

If you are into mindfulness then
this is certainly one for you.....

'Till tomorrow

PS Don't forget the SALE lots of
half price goodies to be had.
