Clean and Simple - Neil Walker

Morning all,

Welcome to yet another weekend, hope it is not going to be
 a wet one!
As I write this, it has been raining all day, not so
good for the school holidays.

Today, we are featuring another clean and simple
project, this time by Neil.

Neil says ......

I have to confess, I don't think I am very good at this but
 hey, I try.....

Trim a piece of white card to 7 x 7".
Use a scrap of card to mask off approx two thirds of
 the piece.
Lay the mask onto the card and use Twisted Citron
 Distress ink to colour.

Ink over this with Hickory Smoke Distress ink.
Remove the mask and scrap card.
Run a thin strip of double sided tape. along the inked edge
and add a piece of white ribbon.
Add to the card blank with double sided tape.

Die cut a small heart from thin card using the Primitive heart die.

Paint with white crackle paint.
When dry, cover with Patina Green Antiquing cream and rub off.
Add to the card as seen.

Ink up the sentiment with Watering Can Archival ink.

Mask off the area you don't want to use with tape and stamp.

Well I think you've nailed it Neil, brilliant!!
I really like the clean and simple look.

So if you want to use the same as Neil, this is
what you'll need.....

Don't forget to let us know what you think, we always
like to hear your comments!

OK, I'll be back tomorrow with a new Challenge,
don't forget it is the last few days of July if
you are following the Calendar Challenge, get
your entries in!!

Have a great weekend,

Jane x

Autumn leaves - Gay Peplow

Hi,
Very seasonal theme this week: Autumn leaves which the DT interpreted in a lot of different ways as you will see throughout the week.
Today we start with guest designer Gay Peplow who use a Dreamweaver stencil: Maple Branch
These two cards will really show you two different ways to use a stencil. Looking at those two, would you have thought at first glance that they were made with the same stencil?

This card was sponged with distress inks through a Dreamweaver metal stencil and then highlighted by pencil around the design.
I added the veins because it needed more depth, they may not be anatomically correct, I guess I should have checked! I claim artistic license!

Gay used
Dreamweaver Stencil Maple Branch.

-------

I spread ink over my craft mat with the Kaleidacolor ink pad and spritzed with water. With a long piece of white card I dragged it through the ink several times building colour as I went until the card was lightly covered with the colours. I dried thoroughly with my heat gun.
This card uses the same stencil as before but I inked through it with VersaMark ink directly with the ink pad onto my strip of coloured card and embossed with gold embossing powder.  I stamped with the text stamp and added colour straight from the ink pad until I was happy with the depth and spread of colour. The corrugated cardboard was again coloured by directly using the ink pad and spritzing with water.
To add a little bling to my dark card I die cut the motif from gold holographic card and then sanded and inked that with StaZon and Copics. My strip of painted and coloured card was placed diagonally across the card and trimmed to fit, a little like a jigsaw, it was fun trying to make it all fit. The base was kraft card which if it didn't all fit on I was happy to leave with a gap, it all toned well with the gorgeous colours of the Creole ink pad.

Ho Ho Ho - Jane

Hi,
Clean and simple and die-cutting today for yet an impressive Christmas display on this card.
Jane made a gorgeous wreath out of different coloured die-cuts.
Definitely I could see myself doing, good for children too to make that special card for their teachers.

Using two circle dies, cut out a ring as a base for your wreath.  I used one of the greens so it wouldn't show through

Using two slightly different shades of green, diecut chosen leaves for your wreath

Start glueing them to the ring as shown.

When completed it should look like this

I used a white card, a red layer cut slightly smaller and another piece of white card, again slightly smaller

Add wreath to layered card.

To decorate I made a red bow with four loops either side and no Christmas Card is complete without a little bling, so a few gems to finish

Jane used:
Marianne D Die - LR0126
Spellbinders - Circles
Ribbon - Red Organza
Gems - Clear coloured with Copic R29

A touch of metal - Jane

Hello,

This week, we are showcasing metal... from metal sheet to gilding, from cards to 3D items, if you like working with metal, you will find lots of inspiration on this blog in the next few days.
We have "Metal Art" section on our website, where you can find everything you need.

Starting with metal clean and simple... always a hit and this card is no exception: classy and elegant.
Jane used IndigoBlu Megaflakes to give a lovely metallic touch to her card.

For my project, I have combined die-cutting with Mega Flakes.  Stick double sided adhesive to card and add dies

Add Mega Flakes to sticky side, then carefully rub off

Die-cut your chosen leaves and flowers and add flakes

 Arrange as desired

Memory Box - Fabulous Phlox and Fresh Foliage

Background layering week - Jane

Hi,
A beautiful simple card with Jane today who used Distress inks with her Impression Obsession stamps for a lovely subtle layering effect.

First I stamped a piece of white card with the Scratches stamp and then stamped over it with Flower Doodles using Spun Sugar, Pickled Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass

I inked around the edges using Shaded Lilac.

I have not used Sparkle Medium before and was very surprised at how easy it was to add the dragonflies

Mount onto two pieces of coordinating cardstock and add to the card.
Et voilà

Jane used
Impression Obsessions Cover-a-card - Scratches and Flower Doodles
Imagination Crafts Mask - Wild Flowers
Sparkle Medium - Lavender

A lovely baby card today with Jane... Die cut letters used in a simple yet elegant and stylish way.

the possibilities are endless and especially with all the unusually spelt names now, you can really personalise your projects.
I decided on a new baby girl card with just a little decoration......

a little bit of bling.....

and of course a little glitter......

Lettering week - Gay

Hi,
Hope you had a lovely weekend :)

This week will be all about lettering... Different ways to add letters and alpha to your projects with die cutting, embossing, stamping, chipboard throughout lot of different samples from the DT: cards, home decor, project for baby and of course our Saturday Savers on Saturday with a fantastic project by Neil.

But let's start today with guest designer Gay Peplow who made a couple of lovely Clean and Simple cards using Sweet Poppy Stencil: LOVE and the Stampendous typewriter alphabet stamps.

I taped the stencil to my card and spread embossing paste over, after removing the stencil I waited for the paste to dry. Once it was hard I painted the lettering black to match the card and when that was dry I used Treasure Gold over it, carefully with my finger and a dry paintbrush and finally buffing with a cloth to get quite a shiny finish. I painted around the letters again because it was difficult to get the detail of the lettering without getting the treasure gold all over the card.
I inked up and embossed the small 'YOU' with gold embossing powder. I have a few speckles of gold , that's because I forgot to use my anti static bag! A few black gems to finish.

This card is simply sponged through the stencil with Distress inks on to white card and cut out, then raised on foam pads for some dimension. I could have played with this stencil for ages, I fancy a little card in pink with pearlised dimensional paste for a baby card, perhaps?

Hexagon week - Gio

Hi,
Gio's turn today with another Tando Mini Tray, the Mini Printer's Tray Hexagonal this time as well as the Crafter's Workshop template Chickenwire reversed.
Love the composition with all the collage in monochromatic tones.
Gio also made a lovely C and S card to match, using the template once again.

1- I gessoed all the chipboards, the Tando Creative Mini Printer Tray Hexagonal, the mini Keys and the mini Hearts.
2- When dry I assembled the Mini Printer and I glued inside the mini hearts and the keys using the Pebeo Studio matte gel.
3- I gessoed a little bit and when dry I sprayed with Dylusions ink spray: London blue , Postbox Red and  Vibrant Turquoise.
4- I stamped the sentiment on some pieces of acetate cut to size and on a piece of Metal sheet using StazOn ink pad - Jet Black and Woodware clear stamp: Alphabet background.
5- I covered the heart chipboard with Dreamweaver embossing paste: Crackle using a palette knife. 6- When completely dry I sprayed it with the same Dylusion Inks.

I covered the heart chipboard with Ranger Glossy Accents and I laid on it the metal pieces. I glued the heart to the tray.
I covered the little stand of the tray with some tissue tape.

For the card: I sprayed Dylusions ink spray Postbox red through the The Crafters Workshop template - Chickenwire reversed on a piece of white cradstock cut to size. I covered the heart chipboard with Dreamweaver embossing paste: Crackle using a palette knife. When completely dry I sprayed it with the Dylusions ink spray: London blue , Postbox red and  Vibrant turquoise. I stamped the sentiment on some pieces of Metal sheet using StazOn ink pad - jet black and Woodware clear stamp: Alphabet background. I glued them to the heart. I adhered the heart to the card.
