Infusions - Neil Walker

Morning all,

Hope you are all well,
the weekend is nearly upon us yet
again!

This week we are going to look at
the most lovely little bottles
of magic!
What are they called....
Infusions
and you can check them out here.

Neil is here to show us what he has
been up to...

I had these two pieces of embossed card from
a previous project. They were the perfect choice
to experiment with the powders.

As you can imagine, at first I wondered if these
were going to be any different than Brushos.
Well, they work and react very similarly as I
thought. However, I have to say that I love the
effect of the walnut that is a part of the Infusions!

I added these to a couple of tags and trimmed to fit.

I used DecoArt Crackle paste to add some
texture to the edges through a layering stencil.

Yes, it looks a bit messy but I left it to dry.

When dry I sprinkled some Infusions over.

A spritz of water to spread. When dry I
added some shimmer with Starlight paint in Topaz.

My finished tags, along with a couple of other
 trial pieces.

Wow, these look amazing!!
Think I'm going to have to treat myself
to some of these little bottles of magic!
The little bottles themselves are so cute!!
Ha ha must be a girly thing!!

So, if you want to have a go, this
is what Neil used -

Ribbon and Metal Charm from Stash

I'll be back tomorrow with another
project for you!

A little reminder..... Neil Walker

Hi everyone,

Well those April showers are
certainly here.....hope it's not going to
be too bad for the weekend as I have
some work going on in the garden!!
Trying to lay concrete in the rain is not
the best!!

I have been looking back at the fab
projects that the DT have
brought you over the last year and
I thought this one from Neil
might inspire those of you who like
to get all painty!!  Haha that's
a new word I think!

Neil said....

I'm going in search of adventure......through the looking glass
and into the Kingdom of hearts.......

Inspired by Alice's adventures through the looking glass I had
fun making my mirror "gateway to Wonderland" adventures
on this journal page.

I started by adding a couple of card elements from the Tando
Top Hat kit and some nailhead stickers to the Tando frame

Then everything was painted gold with DecoArt Media Gold paint.
Once it had been given a coat of gold I mixed some Transparent
Red Iron Oxide Fluid Acrylic to the gold and mixed it with
some water. This was painted loosely over the frame and
then dabbed off to give a more mottled finish.

A piece of thin card cut to size creates the mirror.

To create the faded figure stamp or draw a suitable shape onto
the card in black. Paint the whole piece with the Media Silver
Metallic paint. Use a damp tissue or towel to scrub back the
area over the image. Repaint around the revealed shape to
bring back the solid silver colour around the image.

Paint a couple of hearts on both sides using Quinacridone
Red Fluid Acrylic

While wet dunk into a pile of Clear UTEE

Heat emboss using a pair of tweezers for safety.

Trim some slits into the "mirror" and slide the hearts in place
so they appear to disappear into the surface.....

Attach to a suitable journal page, add your writing to finish.

Thanks Neil,
Don't you love the mirror....got to try that!

This is what you'll need -

Thank you for joining us today, don't forget to let us
know what you think!  We do like to see your comments.

Tomorrow is Challenge Day, the next
letter for The Alpha/Dictionary
Challenge, so see you then...

planned!
It's our second day featuring Green

project we have here for you from Neil!!
This is amazing, you are going to love it!

Neil has made for us....

Cut three pieces of card to fit inside the letter
rack and apply texture sand through the mask,

Vary your placement to create three different
 pieces.

Apply texture sand to the letter rack.

Leave everything to dry thoroughly.

Use Fluid Acrylic to add colour to the rack and
the textured card.

Add washes of Transparent Red and Yellow Iron
Oxide to add age and depth.

Stamp the map image onto white tissue

Apply to the inside areas of the rack with
 Faux Finishing Medium

The finished rack.

Add a bit of metallic highlights with Treasure
 Copper.

Add further detail using Liquid Pearls to finish.

Fabulous Neil, if you want to have a go,
this is what'll you need -

Well that's all for today, I'll

Clean and Simple - Neil Walker

Happy weekend everyone,

Gosh, another month almost gone,
where do the days go?

It's nice to see the afternoons are a bit
longer until we change the clocks, that is!

Well, back to Clean and Simple,
Neil is with us today....

Ink up your stamp by sliding it over the
surface rather than tapping it. This gives
a more faded look. Tap the ink pad on
one area of the stamp to give a darker tone.

Stamp onto white card. You can see
the darker area where more ink
was applied in the bottom corner.

Trim and matt the card onto brown
card and mount onto the card blank.

Take a suitable chipboard letter and
paint with co ordinating colours. Add
a gloss layer with glaze or UTEE and
attached to the card as seen.

There you have it. A clean and simple
 yet striking card.

And it is really Beautiful Neil,
thank you!  I do like
Clean and Simple, it should be nice and
quick but I think it takes longer sometimes
hovering over the card, trying so hard not
to add something else!!

This is what Neil used -

I'll be back tomorrow with another
Challenge, got to have a
think about what it's going to be!

Hmmmm, I wonder....

It's Sunday again and time to announce
our next letter in the
Alpha/Dictionary Challenge 2016!
But before we do I have a special post
for you today from Dawn who
is showing you how she made her
last entry for the Challenge.....

The Letter was F and there had to be
a heart included!

Dawn says -
My fish here is all loved up. An altered
dictionary page.

Prepare pages by gluing some together and
painting with white gesso.

Then spread Media Texture Sand Paste through
stencils. Leafy at the bottom and random circles

above. Paint small spaces with crackle paint.

Leave to dry. Use green Fresco Paints

 to colour texture.

Colour page with watercolour paints and
 Brushos in sea colours. Dry.

Replace stencil at bottom and rub over
gold gilding wax on leafy parts.

Dab white paint onto circles.

Using Darcy small stamps, stamp script

randomly across pages and dotted circles

around textured circles using Stazon Inks.
Flick white paint across pages.

Take orange, red and yellow acrylic paints,
drop bits around a piece of card. Spread around
with a pallet knife or spreader. Dry. Then

has chosen L

This is the latest addition to her tray -

And Neil is continuing with his books -

And Dawn's pics too....

So what will you do?

You should know the rules by now!
You have two weeks, the link will close
at midnight on Sunday 6th March.  Entry
via the link where possible, if not email me
janecraftbarn@gmail.com
and I will add them for you!
I am changing the rules slightly here, you
need to pick a word beginning with the
chosen letter and add a definition
to your entry.  I have decided it need not
be the actual dictionary definition but
a definition of some sort!!  This might
prove interesting and amusing!!
The winner will be picked by
Random Generator and will receive
a £10 voucher.  The winner will be
announced on Tuesday 8th March.

I just want to add here that this is
your blog and challenges not just mine, so
anytime you have any suggestions, please
don't hesitate to email me and let me know.
I'm always open to ideas!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, four
of us are at Birmingham today to
see all the exciting new products that
are being launched so hopefully there
will some new things for you to
play with soon!
