Wax Paper & Acetate

Wax Paper & Acetate

Hello

Today we have gorgeous project to inspire us
for those Cards we still have to make....

Here is Hazel Harler who is Caught in Crystal:

I haven't done this technique for a few years so
I thought it was time to have another go.

You will need a sheet of acetate, alcohol inks, glossy accents
and crumpled tissue paper.
Other items that can be added are glitter, micro beads,
mica powder, gilding flakes etc

I squeezed stickles and glossy accents over the acetate

Then I dripped in some alcohol ink

I covered the inked acetate with the tissue paper and pressed it down,
if you are wearing rubber gloves you can do this with your fingers,
I would suggest you use a ball of kitchen towel
if you're not wearing gloves.

Leave to dry preferably overnight.

This is a close up after it had dried

A few sheets of different colours.

I've made a few cards with some of my acetate.

For this card I stamped the card blank with snowflakes using Fresco metalic glaze, the wooden snowmen were covered with Treasure Pewter wax

For this card I covered some black card with inca gold Alchemy wax and used a Stampendous stamp and die for the poinsettia. The acetate had some glitter added to it.

The acetate can also be die cut, I used a Sizzix die. The card was coloured with distress ink and I layered different handmade papers at the bottom. I added gilding flakes to the acetate

I covered the Tando snowmen with Frantage embossing enamel, I added mica powder to the acetate and the snowy mesh is from my stash.

For the next two cards I stencilled Imagination Crafts sparkle medium using Dreamweaver stencills. The sentiments on most of the cards are remnent rubs

I hope you can give this technique a try as you can get some beautiful results.

Snowflakes

Snowflakes

Hallo everyone!

Today we have the last in our current theme
It has been a wonderful week for Snowflakes
and here is Karen Gist with her fabulous project
using the Tando Artroom

Glue the pieces of the Artroom
together but paint the background in
Fresco Baltic Blue
and, when dry, splash with
white acrylic before you add the
front section

Paint the rest of the Artroom in
Fresco Blue Oyster.
When dry, using a flourish stencil
add some sparkle medium to the
sides, front and top.
Set aside to dry

Cover all the stars with a layer of gesso and
the cover them with Crystal Stickles.
Leave to dry
The little stars are from the centre of the
snowflakes and can be used too.

Assemble the house, leaving the roof for a moment.

Paint the house in Fresco antarctic and when dry
rub around the edges lightly with Versamagic Sahara Sand.

Put the roof through an embossing folder to give it some texture.

Paint it using Fresco Stone and when dry rub
a little of the Sahara Sand over the ridges.

Glue to the house.

Add doors and windows

Decide where your house will sit and draw a line around it on the base.
Spread Sparkle Medium over the base but
leave the area where the house will stand.

Add texture by 'flicking' the medium with a pallette knife as it dries.

Take out the card from the Tando packaging
and paint sections with Blue Oyster and sand.
Stamp and cut out a selection of trees.
Attach to the Artroom using silicone glue
so that they stand out a bit.
Add a little Tando heart painted with
Blue Oyster to the roof of the house and add
some sparkle medium.
Glue the house in place adding a
little tree

Add the snowflakes to the top of the
Artroom as shown.

I thought afterwards that I could have added
little battery powered lights to this piece.
Too late for me but not for you.....

Thank you Karen - I am blown away by this project

Dress a Tree - Dawn Heald

Hi folks,

Welcome to our posts this week!
This time we asked out DT to
'dress a tree'....can you believe there
is an actual day for this, in fact there
is two - 5th and 6th December!!
Who actually thinks these 'days' up?

Dawn is with us today to show you
what she has been up to.....

Hi crafty friends, how are you getting
on with preparations for the holidays?
I'm rather behind so I wanted a product
that could be used multiple ways, easy
to use and look good whilst keeping the card simple.
The Dreamweaver Stencil Christmas
Tree is perfect and ticks all the boxes.
You can use so many different mediums
from ink pads to sprays to pastes or even
 draw through them.
If you've more time they're great
 to dress up even more.

I'm showing four finished cards. Two
using ink pads and two using pastes.

Place stencil down and low tack tape into
position. Do this for each tree washing between use.
The inked trees -
Use a stencil brush or sponge and apply ink
through the stencil. Remove tape and stencil carefully.

The paste trees -
1. Using Dreamweaver Embossing Paste
spread over the stencil. Leave to
 dry. Add red glitter glue.
2. Use Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium and
apply over the stencil. Leave to dry.

Go over areas with coloured glitter
 glue and leave to dry.

Then die cut all four trees with the goods frame
from the set and colour the areas around the
tree with coloured ink pads. Next die cut the
pattern backing and colour if wanted
 with matching inks.
Decorate your trees with gems and
Card Candi. Layer up with the pattern die
cut and attach to you card base.
Stamp a sentiment underneath.

Love these cards from Dawn and if you want to
have a go, this is what you'll need....

From own stash - Christmas Sentiment Stamp

I'll be back tomorrow with a
project from Neil.

See you then,

Diamonds - Dawn Heald

Hellooooo,

It's a new week here on The Craft Barn Blog and time
for a new project.  what is it to be this week....
well we gave the DT one word - Diamonds
and this is what they came up with.....

Today we are starting with Dawn

Dawn says -

Hi there, when given the topic of diamonds I knew
straight away I was going to use my favourite stencil.
Having a diamonds shape stencil is so useful, it goes
with any theme, vintage, modern, it always works.
The sparkle aspect of diamonds comes from
the sparkle gels. Any of the Imagination Crafts stamps are
 great for cutting into.
To make my project I recycled a piece of corrugated
card board and made a wall hanging.

Here's what I did.....

Cut the board to size, I tore off some parts of the top
layers and glued some torn book page pieces on to
the board. I then painted it
with a range of PaperArtsy paints in yellows, oranges
and browns, using the translucent paints made a
difference to the finished effect.
When dry I've used Bronze and then Pastel Yellow
Sparkle Medium through the Diamonds stencil
onto areas of the painted board.

Whilst this was drying I stamped, coloured and cut
out three sets of flowers. Snipped into the
 flowers and shaped them.

I added glossy accents to the flower centres and sprinkled the
fine beads over.

Top Tip - Don't knock the tube over onto your carpet.
 Guess who did?
(Jane says.....yup I have done that too haha!!)

To match the blue beads I created some diamond shape
embellishments. Using chipboard,  die cut the Tim Holtz
Frameworks Die and the diamond bits that pop out are
what I used. Painted with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Paint,
sprinkled with same beads as above and added glossy
 accents over the top.

Attach an eyelet at the top corners of board and thread with
 ribbon to make a hanger.

Glue your flowers and blue diamonds to the board.
Job done.

Hope you like this and see you again soon. X
