Oxidised

Oxidised

Hallo Everyone!

We have Craftyfield with us
today.  So sit back and relax
as she takes us step by step
through the making of this
very lovely greeting card:

"Everything I heard about the New
Distress Oxides inks had me excited.

Would they live up to my expectations?

Wonder no more the results are in...

My first test of the inks was with a black tag.

Since Distress Oxides are opaque I wanted
to know HOW opaque they really are.

Although the tag above could be worked
on for an Aurora Borealis night sky, the inks
I chose weren't light enough to get me the
intended results.

(Note to self: get lighter colours next time!).
Change of plan then...

On cream card the colours show beautifully.
I did a test with water sprayed through a stencil,
and the result, whilst delicate
(I didn't apply enough ink for a dramatic effect),
is beautiful.

I stamped the flower with Distress Oxide to
see how defined the stamping would be.

Yes the ink stamps perfectly, like a
pigment ink with an added bonus...

I'm showing the IO stamp after stamping
with the Distress Oxide.

See how much ink is left on the stamp?
Good thing to know, they give a very
good 2nd generation stamping.

Also note how detailed the original impression is.

In the final piece the image is blurry but that is intentional!

I sprayed some water on the stamp (without re-inking)
to see how the ink would behave, as they are water reactive.

I loved the results, really good for a faded background
stamping and fairly defined in comparison to stamping
with the Original Distress Inks and water.

Remember water reactive...

I HAD to test this on paper too and sprayed
my beautiful background!

The water first blurred all the stamping and
spread some of the blue all over the card.
Another fabulous effect for a background paper.

I still need to do more testing, with more colours,
but so far I am really happy with those inks
which are rather versatile compared to either
dye or pigment inks."

Supplies:

Distress Oxides (Fossilized Amber and Faded Jeans)
Carabelle Studio Stencil
Impression Obession CAC
Honey doo Lilies stamp
Paper Artsy ELB33
From my stash, black lace, flower and brad.

Thank you Craftyfield, such a
luxurious card.
Wonder what it would look like in a frame?

Don't you agree Everyone?  Sometimes
you get a card that you want to keep
on display....................
Please tell me I'm not the only one.........!!

Bag It

Bag It

Hallo everyone!

Today's project would make
a really special gift bag and
here is Louise Thomson to
tell you how she made it

"Start by applying a couple of coats of the
base colour – Green Apple So Soft fabric paint,
to a canvas wine bottle bag.

I wanted a fairly natural look with rough edges
and plenty of the canvas still showing

Mix the green apple paint with a tiny bit of
‘So Soft’ tangerine to get a terracotta colour
and apply through a stencil.

I used two different designs of the same
Kaisercraft mini mix stencil

Once completely dry, stamp the Honey Doo
Floral Chaos design repeatedly on to the canvas.

My ink pad was running low and I ended up
re – stamping the image several times.

I thought it was going to be a disaster and
need ditching but I should have had faith –
there is no project that can’t be rescued!

Using tangerine and dark burgundy So Soft paints,
paint in the flower heads, mixing them to create a variety of tones

Once you are happy with the paint and
have allowed it to dry, go over the stems in a
sakura gelly roll pen.

Add in dots of bisque liquid pearls around the
stems and also to add centres to the flowers

Finally, bag a bottle!
I tied the bag with the hessian style chord provided
and added three coordinating paper flowers
which rather handily were in a Craft Barn
goody box I purchased recently!"

Materials used-
So soft paints in green apple, tangerine and dark burgundy
Paper flowers (from stash)

Thank you Louise - a super project.

Didn't I tell you it would be special?
I'm sure you agree this is a beautiful
way of presenting a bottle be it a
full bodied red or a bottle of blackcurrant juice!

The So Soft paints, by DecoArt, are really nice to
use too and come in a good range of colours

Rice Paper

Rice Paper

Hi there!

Today is the last day
in the Rice Paper set.
Hope you have enjoyed these
projects as much as I have

Today's project will take
your breath away...........

Here is Hazel Harler to
talk you through her
gorgeous project:

" I needed to make a thank you card for a neighbour
and thought it would be nice to make a tea light card.

I searched the internet for a template and
found one made by Crafters Companion.
I cut the card and box from green card

I covered the card and box with a some pretty rice paper
and attached some ribbon and lining to the inside of the card,
then I die cut a window in the top of the box.

I glued a piece of acetate insideof the window
and glued the box to the card
leaving the opening for the tealights at the top

I lightly dry brushed some white acrylic paint
on the front of the card being careful
not to cover the birds.

The two flowers were stamped onto tissue
paper with black archival ink

I stamped some script onto the cover and then
cut out the flowers and glued them to the card.

I coloured a tag with watercolour and stamped the flower.
I'm going to write a note on this for my neighbour.
The box was filled with tea lights."

Many thanks Hazel.  I'm sure your neighbour
was delighted to receive such a lovely Thank You

This would make a really nice card/present
for every occasion.

'Till tomorrow

Hearts and Flowers

Hearts and Flowers

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Have a bit of a confession to
make today - I didn't notice I
was a project short for the week
until this afternoon.  Oooops!

Bit late in the day to approach
the DT I thought .............

Searched through my stash and
found I had some Honey Doo Stamps
so without further ado I put together
a quick and simple card to share
with you

I masked off a strip on the bottom
third of the card using Post-It Notes
and taking a Smoothie and Abandoned Coral
Distress Ink I coloured the strip

The next stage was to stamp the main image
in Black Archival ink

So far, so good!

Time to colour in the image and
I just swooshed some Abandoned Coral
and Cracked Pistachio on my cutting
mat, add a little water to get the colours
moving and a paint brush

Then I stamped a few hearts
along the "ribbon" using the
Abandoned Coral Distress Ink
and added a greeting

I'm afraid I have no idea
who the greeting is by - it has been
on my desk since way back when.
Likewise, the heart is also anonymous

Materials:

Card Blanks
Honey Doo Stamps
Archival Ink
Distress Ink

I do admit to have secretely enjoyed
making this card for you.........

although I am sure you will greet the
Design Team with open arms
when they come back next week

"Till tomorrow

Hearts and Flowers

Hearts and Flowers

Hallo Everyone!

Today we have another card
project from Hazel Harler so
sit back and prepare to be
totally inspired

For my card I used a Honey Doo Crafts stamp and a Carabelle Studio mask

On a piece of white card sponge distress ink through the mask.
I used picked raspberry and scattered straw.

Stamp the image onto the stencilled card and onto white card

Colour the images, I used my Inktense pencils to do this

Cut out the pieces on the white card to 3D the image

Use silicone glue to glue the petals and leaves

I matted the topper to some black card
and then glued it to a card blank that I'd made out of a piece pink card.

I added a heart charm, some dew drops and stamped the sentiment..

A close up of the flower.

Supplies:

A gorgeous card Hazel
thank you

I will have to sit down
this afternoon and make a
start on the year's birthday cards
now that inspiration is tapping on
my shoulder......

'Till tomorrow
