Saturday savers - Build it up with Gio

Saturday Savers
a dedicated day of stash using, recycling, upcycling and general planet saving!

Hi,
Third week for our Saturday Savers. How are you enjoying it so far?
Fabulous project (me think) from Gio today. Looove those colours and it is such a pretty design too.
Looking forward to hearing from you in a comment below.

I gathered a piece of empty kitchen roll, a cereal box and a cardstock tea box and I cut them to size.
I gessoed some book pages and I covered the cardstock pieces. I added some texture using Dreamweaver embossing paste: Transluscent through
The Crafters Workshop template - Circle explosion spreading it with a palette knife.

When dry, I started to paint using PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints: Eggplant for the cereal box, PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints: Smoked paprika for the kitchen roll and PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints: Beach hut for the tea box. I also painted the scalloped frame and the base of the Tando Creative Sweet tooth kit with the same colours.
I added Tim Holtz Tissue Tape Nostalgic all along the inner borders of the cardstock pieces.

I stamped some flowers and branches from PaperArtsy stamps - Eclectica: Lin Brown 01 using several Archival ink pad on a piece of gessoed book page and on the cardstock base. I cut them out. I glued them to another piece of gessoed book page lightly coloured with Archival ink and a little sponge. I adhered it to the scalloped Tando frame.
I assembled everything. I added some chipboard details from the same Tando kit, stamped with archival ink pad and a script stamp from Hot Picks 1006.
I enlightened the raised areas with some Dreamweaver metallic F/X.

Pebeo mirror

Buongiorno :)
Gio is with us today for yet another type of sample made with the beautiful Pebeo paints.
She chose to alter a wooden mirror

= = = = = =

I started to spread the Fantasy prisme red paint with the help of a wooden stick on the upper side of the mirror; when I covered half of the mirror I added drops of white paint and I spread it around to mix with the red.
I poured the white paint on the bottom of the mirror, taking care to mix the two colors with the stick where they met. I add some drops of gold paint now and then, always mixing with the stick.
I set aside to dry overnight. I added some findings and embellishments: you can add them with glue or you can add them when the paint is still wet.
With these colours, you get a wonderful shiny surface, no needed further varnishing.

To make her mirror, Gio used:

but the same technique could be used on any wooden item

Colouring Techniques: Paper-Soft-Color

Hi everyone,

Jane here, standing in for Izzy, just for today!!
It seems like a long time since I was last here!!
Ok, today I'm afraid it is a project by me again......

Izzy asked me to do a project using Paper-Soft-Color, I haven't used mine for some time but it was so nice to get it out and have a little play.....

For this project, I used Lilac, Rose and Light Blue.
Using the applicators add the colour to white card....

The sentiment was stamped with black ink and then Paper-Soft-Color
was added to the outside edge. Layer onto Coredinations....

Colour some more white card and then cut out shapes using dies
 and die-cutting machine.

Assemble the flowers and arrange on card.....

Add a little flat backed pearl to the flowers to finish....

I had forgotten how much I like Paper-Soft-Color....
think I must use it more!!!!

Izzy will be back tomorrow with another project for you!

Jane x
