Punchboard

Punchboard

Hallo Everyone!

Trust all is well in your
little corner of the craft world
Everything is good here
Mind you good weather is
always a help when it comes
to mood and inspiration .......

Speaking of which we have
Angela Radford with us today
and she has brought her new
Journal .........

"Hi all, Angela here today to show you
how I made this journal using one of the
Punch Boards.

I started by covering the paper with a
Seth Apter stamp using his paints by Paper Artsy.

Using the envelope Punchboard I then made
the pages to go into the journal

This must be the easiest and best envelope maker
ever and I've used a few!

The punch even finishes off the corners for you.

I was surprised how quickly I completed all of these.

My plan is to cover the pages with left-over
samples from the projects I've done using
Seth Apter products and use journalling
cards which will be kept inside the pockets
with notes of what I've done.

The envelopes are so easy to complete,
just fold along the score lines

Then stick the edges with glue, brilliant!

I made some small journal cards to fit in the envelopes.

Next I needed to make the cover for my journal
and cut the three pieces of card ready to start.

This is the card I used...recognise it?
What do they say? "Waste not want not"!

This is great card for journal covers.
Just make your order from The Craft Barn
and you may be lucky enough to receive one of these Lol!

Masterboard for the front cover using
Seth Apter paint and a Brayer

Place the card in position and stick down.

You may remember I mentioned this before
to score round the corners before folding over
which gives a good clean finish

Glue down the corners and edges.

And this is what it should look like at this stage.

Take another piece of Masterboard and a
slightly narrower piece of card for the centre
and glue these together. Wrap round the centre,
cord or elastic for as many pages as you
wish to store in the journal

Turn this over and glue down to the back
of the journal cover.

Next I stamped several images on left-over
Masterboard, coloured card and shrink plastic.

Now you are ready to start decorating
the front cover. I attached a cord at
the same time which would
be used as the fastening.

The flap of the envelope is used to insert the page
making it easy to take it out if you wish to work on it.

And here is the journal completed.
I included a few little gems, Tim Holtz embellishments
and shrink plastic pieces made with Seth Apter stamps.

Spine view.

More samples added but lots more will follow I'm sure.

Happy crafting, Angela xXx"

A truly super project Angela
thank you.

So Everyone; have you been inspired
to make a journal?

This you will all agree that there is a
lot more to any of the Punchboards
than first imagined .......

Punchboard

Punchboard

Hallo Again!

Are you feeling energetic?
Hope so because today
Helen Chilton is giving us
a workout with the versatile
Tab Punchboard

"This punchboard is designed to punch
3 sizes of tabs as shown here.

However you can do more with it than just that.
Punch on one side to get tab shape.

Punch both sides to create a different top to a tag

Create interesting card corners and layer up.

You can also easily cut any size tab by removing
the peg (try not to lose it like I did!) and
punching freehand.

Here's a much smaller tab.

Different pattern again - don't know
what you'd do with this one!

This sort of 'houses and chimneys' effect
emerged as I was having a go in a workshop.

Punch on the fold and get interesting patterns.

Punch on the fold to make different shaped tab cards.

Here's a card idea using the chimney effect:

Stamp the Carabelle Studios windows
 with Distress Oxide inkpads.

Spritz with water and....

blot!

Stamp round the edges in black
(a stamp positioner is great for this)
and then paint over some areas with more water.

Sponge ink round the edges and then stamp
the Kaisercraft Moroccan stamp along the roof line
and emboss in Frantage Aged Enamel Copper.

To finish stamp the Kaisercraft bricks round
the edges and emboss in a mixture of
Stampendous enamels: Frantage aged Aqua
and Ice Blue.

To finish: layer onto black card and add
an embossed Tando label."

Materials used:

WRMK Punchboard Tabs
Carabelle Studios: At The Window
Kaisercraft texture stamps: Moroccan, Brick Wall
Distress Oxides: Peeled Paint, Worn Lipstick, Fossilized Amber, Broken China
Tando Small Bookplate
Stampendous embossing enamel: Ice Blue, Frantage Aged Aqua

Thank you Helen
for such an in depth
look at the Tab Punchboard
and what a lovely card at
the end too

I do like craft tools that
have more than one application
don't you?

'Till tomorrow

Punchboard

Punchboard

Hi there!

A new week; a new theme
and this week is no exception
We are starting off with
Claire Jackson and a
variation on the theme..........

" When I get a new gadget I always try
to explore different ways to get the most out
of it and the We R Memory Keepers
tabs punch board is no exception.

It’s great for making tabs, file dividers and
index cards to custom sizes but I wanted
to see if I could use it in card making.

First I chose three co-ordinating papers
from the Kaisercraft high tea collection.
It helps if one is relatively plain, one has
a small pattern and one has a large pattern.

I cut a 3cm strip from the plainest paper
and adhered it to the right edge of
the inside of the card.

The punch board comes with instructions
but it is actually quite intuitive and easy to use.

Flip the card over to the reverse and
with the little stop in place punch the
bottom corner of the back of the card.

Take the stop out, turn the card over
so you can see the pattered paper strip,
line the corner up with the large tab
mark on the board and punch
the other side of the tab.

Use the trimmer on the punchboard to
cut off the excess and leave a tab
on the back of the card blank.

Repeat the process to make a tab on
the top right of the card front.

Adhere a strip of the large patterned paper
on the left edge (optional to wrap it around onto
 the back of the card).

Stamp the flower into the centre of the
card and add the birthday sentiment
onto the two tabs

Stamp the flower several times onto the
 remaining patterned paper.

Cut out one set of leaves and a flower head
and stick over the stamped image on the
front of the card.

Cut away parts of a second flower head
to leave the petals on the front of the flower.

Put one or two foam squares into the
middle of the flower head and
decoupage the petals, gluing the tips
down to make them curve downwards.

Cut out the front most petal from
a third image and stick it on,
gluing only the base so that it stands out.

I toyed with adding more stamping
but in the end settled on the CAS
 (clean and simple) look.

I’m definitely going to experiment
some more with the tabbed template though."

Materials used:

White card blank 12.5 x 12.5 cm
Kaisercraft 6½” paper pad: high tea
WRMK punch board: tabs
Carabelle Studio cling stamp: the earth has music
Archival ink: jet black
Cosmic Shimmer glue
foam pads
sentiment stamp

A nice twist to start us off
with the Punch Board Claire
thank you....Nice papers too!

I have a friend with extreme
dexterity problems and I
think this style of card could
well ease some of her
frustrations at her difficulty
in opening more regular cards

'Till tomorrow
