Crafty Emotions

Crafty Emotions

Hi!

Have you got all your weekend
chores done? Good for you!

Now it is time to sit back and
relax and what better place to
start than with Jane Castle's
Thank You card........

"At this time of year it's so easy to concentrate
solely on Christmas but it's probably a good
idea to have a couple of cards ready made
and 'In the Bank' as to speak for those
special thank-you's.

Not only for a fabulous gift but dinner parties,
drinks gatherings with neighbours
and then there's 'New Year' parties.

Today I'd like to share with you a card that
can easily be adapted using different colours
if it's for a male or depending on what
you might have in your 'crafting stash'.

I started by preparing my outer frame, for this I painted
a piece of smooth white card with Mud Splat paint.
Once dry it was then given a coat of Weathered Wood,
left to dry again and then a final coat of Blush

This was then put to one side as I wasn't sure
at this stage how large I would need
 to make my aperture.

Using the following stamp set and inks I proceeded
to build up the layers of my wild flowers.

The first to be stamped was the cow parsley,
this was heat embossed with white EP.

Then I gradually filled in the bunch using 2 other
stamps from the same set.

Finally I added a few hand drawn stems using a
 Distress Marker.

After trimming to size I punched 2 holes,
1 each side of the stems, threaded some
ribbon through and tied a bow.

After cutting my frame to size I then decided to
add some narrow lace to the inside of the aperture.
This was attached using narrow double sided tape.

A die cut tag was then stamped with my sentiment
and this was attached using a dragonfly brad.

Using a different sentiment on the tag this could be
adapted for many different occassions, so one could
make a couple of cards and add the tag when needed!"

Items Used

Lace from sewing stash

What a lovely card Jane;
thank you.

Just goes to show you don't need
a load of stamps and supplies
to make a stunning card

Crafty Emotions

Crafty Emotions

Hallo Everyone!

Good to see you!  Do you
know anyone with a pre-
Christmas birthday?....

You do?....

Well here's a gorgeous
card from Craftyfield

"Succulent, or cactus (Cactii) as I know them,
are in trend in the crafting world and as soon
as I saw the Craft Emotion set I knew I wouldn't
 be able to resist!

It has several elements, enough to build up
 a complete rockery...

I first stamped all the images on the sheet
and fussy cut them to help me decide on
 a composition.

I settled on using only 3 elements to keep
things relatively CAS. I used my fussy cut
images as masks to stamp on watercolour
paper with Brilliance ink in black.

I coloured the image with Inktense pencils.
Keep it light, you can always add colour later...

I then used a wet brush to "melt" the colour
on the paper. After this first wash was dry,
 I re-applied pencils where I needed more
 contrast or more intense colour.

For the background, I wanted lots of shine,
so I used Starlight paints, applied with
a brayer all over a piece of cardstock.

You can see the shine, in fact that
is pretty much all you can see,
despite the weather being decidely cloudy

I put together my card by matting the

focal image onto Art-C glitter card in
black, adding a sentiment stamped in
black ink on a piece of white glitter card.

I really like that card it's non shedding glitter,

sturdy but still die-cuts easily, and it shines...

So nice I added another piece of white

glitter and used Enamel Accents to create
 faux brads.

Without proper sunlight it is difficult to show how nice
the glitter looks, but I thought you might want
to see how well it stamped, as I was concerned
this would be a problem, especially as the
script on this stamp is quite small.

I should say that I did enlist my trusty stamping
platform to stamp the sentiment and I did 3 inkings
to get the intensity of black I wanted.

You may wonder why cactus for a birthday card
and I'm mulling over several funny sentiments
I can add to the inside.
"No need to be prickly, you're not that old"
or similar.

I would be grateful for your suggestions

so don't hold back and add your
 comments below...please... pretty please?

Supplies:

Thank you for a great card
Craftyfield and also for making
us all smile.....

Well, I laughed out loud
I know a few people who
are feeling a little prickly
over their birthdays right now...

'Till tomorrow

Crafty Emotions

Crafty Emotions

Hi There!

Everything is gearing towards
the end of next month and all
the happy crafters are beavering
away with seasonal items .....

Well what about all the other
life events that take place
even at this time of the year?

Here's Helen Chilton to start us
off with a small selection of
CAS cards that have nothing
to do with Christmas......

"These are clean and simple cards using
Craft Emotions clear stamp set: Branches.

They're all made in the same way
with a few little tweaks here and there.

Start off by cutting some masks using
punches or dies. They need to fit
 a 4"x 4" card blank.

Stick your mask down with masking tape
and choose your colours - I'm using
Distress Oxides but dye inks are just as good.

Rub on your colours through the mask,
blending as you go.

Leave the mask in place and start
stamping the flowers in black.

 Build them up....

...and then remove the mask.
And that's it, your basic card.

You can vary them by adding embellishments
- here I've dotted some Ranger Enamels.

You can also stamp in the background with
the mask on (Kaisercraft Texture stamp: Script)
and bring out a couple of the flowers onto
the white cardstock.

 Then I've added a greeting

You can stencil the background with the mask
in place and then double stamp the greeting.

You can change the shape of your mask
and stencil in the background.

Finish with Stickles.

You can quickly stamp a border.

As these are Distress inks, you could
splatter the background and add a
 doodled border.

The possibilities are endless ......."

Materials:

Thanks Helen, that is quite a
comprehensive card set there
to suit many occasions

Jingle Bells

Jingle Bells

Hallo Everyone!

Well, it had to happen.....
Welcome to our first week
of Christmas makes - you
don't have to get Seasonal
music on the player......yet
just get the bells out and
jingle your way through
the week.............!

Hazel Harler is here to
start us off:

"It won't be long before Christmas is here
so I have a Christmas card to share
with you today.

I used some Find It Trading Dies
and a Craft Emotion stamp.

I stamped the image onto white card
with black Archival ink, then I
die cut all the pieces.

The red and gold card is from my stash.

I coloured the image with watercolour
pencils and a water brush

I covered a card blank with some music paper.

I die cut the holly flourish and coloured
it with the watercolour pencils

I layered all the pieces together
and added some beads."

Super card Hazel, thank you.

Now that is an amazingly
versatile die set and very
well priced too!

In case you were wondering,
there are seven dies in
the set........!

"Till tomorrow

News

News

Hi There!

Thought we'd start the week
with a News Flash for a
change.  Helen Chilton found
these super new stamps on
the Craft Barn website and

couldn't resist the temptation
to try them out!!

"These are a new range of stamps
at The Craft Barn - they're very good
value at £5.50 for a set of this size
and there is a good range of designs.

I've started by colouring some Yupo
with green and blue alcohol inks -
Aqua, Botanical and Limeade.

I've then stamped a scene in
Memento Tuxedo Black and
started to colour with alcohol ink pens.
The pen colour will push out
 the background colour.

When i finished colouring I added some
 more detail in black pen.

I layered the scene onto kraft card
and added die cuts from
Tim Holtz's Wildflowers set 1.

To show the stamps' versatility I've made
another card stamped on a glossy
inked background....

...and a tag on a Distress Oxide background."

Products Used:

Alcohol Inks:
Tim Holtz Thinlits: Wildflowers 2, Friendship Words Script

Thanks Helen, good to see
new stamps in action.......!

Check out all the other stamps
in the range - they're certainly
excellent value for money
