Hallo everyone!
We continue with our buildings
theme today and Jane Castle has
brought in a super greetings card
for us:
"For this card I began by making the background
using various Distress Stains.
As I wanted an area of sky and an area of
greeny browns for the ground it was worked
as 2 separate halves
For the sky I started with Blueprint Sketch,
Tumbled Glass and Picket Fence,
the ground area was just Forest Moss.
The stains were dabbed onto a craft mat,
sprayed with a little water and t
he card swished back and forth through the inks
mixing as it goes.
This was then left to dry for about 5 mins
before adding more layers.
This now had more of the stains mentioned above
with the addition of Bundled Sage and Hickory Smoke to the bottom.
This was left for an hour or so before starting the stamping
to avoid any smudges.
As the background was larger than needed
for the 15cm x 15cm card blank I was able to choose
where the stamped images would look their best.
For the sun I added some Fossilized Amber Distress Ink
using a make-up sponge before stamping
the single flower stamp from Zinouk du Jardin.
The London scene was then stamped using
Versafine Onyx Black lightly stamping onto
scrap paper to remove excess ink and
then I inked the stamp again with Archival Sepia.
Why I hear you ask? - I didnt want a flat black image
or an all brown one and had tried various
other shades but couldn't find just what I had in my head!
Once completely dry I then began to add some
touches of colour to various buildings.
This was done using a very fine paint brush and
the translucent paints from the PaperArtsy Fresco range.
This was then left over night to thoroughly dry;
the paint was not absorbed into the card
as it was well coated in ink.
Watered down Vintage Photo ink was painted
to the base of the buildings before being trimmed to size.
The word London was stamped at the top
in VersaMagic Pumkin Spice.
The edges were first hi-lighted with a
black marker pen and then the whole scene
was stitched onto a piece of Tim Holtz Idea-ology card.
The words Travel, Explore and Discover from
Crafty Individuals 221 were stamped onto a piece
of background trimmings, edged with the black pen
and stuck on the right-hand side.
This London scene by Carabelle Studio is a
very intricate design and stamps with such detail
that it really doesn't need too much adding to it
Depending on the angle of the light various parts stand out
more than others as the paint has sat ontop of the Distress Stains."
